In Search of Unexplained Anomalies
July 28th, 2007 by John WolfeWhen I was a kid I used to look forward to the television series, “In Search of”, hosted by Leonard Nimoy. The series would take viewers on a documentary style adventure into the world of the unexplained. Each week a new subject would be covered, everything from vampires to alien visitors was fair game. While they would often cover paranormal subject matter, they seemed to (if my memory serves me) gravitate more towards the odd and strange. I titled this entry in honor of that classic program and their penchant for covering anomalous oddities.
When I first started writing blog posts for Season of Shadows I never planned on spending any time on things like UFOs, Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster etc. I didn’t make that decision because I felt those things aren’t interesting (I used to eat that stuff up when I was younger). Rather I knew I wanted to focus on subjects that tied in more with the mystical- things like the soul, spiritual empowerment, and life after death. I wanted to write about these subjects because I feel they provide a doorway into discovering useful, life changing techniques that touch the human spirit and positively affect (hopefully) the lives of my blog visitors. I didn’t feel that writing about alien bodies discovered at the Roswell crash site, or discussing chupacabra attacks in Mexico provided a lot of benefit for my readers. Nevertheless, since the concept of this post is very heavily tied in with my last one, I decided it would be appropriate to discuss these unexplained anomalies, just this once. I’m placing the sightings of all things we have no hard physical proof for the existence of, into the category of the anomalous.
Even though I was fascinated, as a child, by stories of alien beings, the Yeti, lake monsters of Ogopogo and Loch Ness, and many other aspects of cryptozoology, I couldn’t get past the issue that no physical remains from any of these creatures/beings, have ever been discovered. Of course it’s been stated, many times, that our government has been hording their fair share of both living and dead aliens for many decades. While I’m not going to delve into government cover ups, since it’s beyond the point and scope of this post- I will say anything is possible. Instead I want to approach this subject from the stance that we really have no hard physical evidence (government UFO stashes aside) for the existence/visitation of these apparent anomalies, yet their sightings continue.
While the majority of these sightings can probably be chalked up to common ordinary things, many are extremely credible and unexplained. Let’s just throw out a ballpark estimate here- let’s say that three percent of all anomalous sightings in the last one hundred years are actually accurate and credible, meaning they were not items or animals that have a known earthly explanation. Let’s stay super conservative and assume there were only 950,000 sightings of all anomalous activity, total, in the last century (I’m sure this number is ridiculously low). Our figure of three percent yields 28,500 credible sightings in a one hundred year time span. This averages out to twenty three and three fourths sightings per month, per year, for an entire century. That’s an amazing amount and due to the fact I was being very conservative, I’m sure that number is extremely higher. What are these people witnessing and where do these things disappear to, without leaving a trace of hard physical evidence (especially those that appear to be bound to this earth)?
While they could be witnessing exactly what they describe, I believe it’s more likely that the majority of credible reports are witnessing hallucinations. But before I start sounding like a staunch skeptic, let’s take a closer look at what a hallucination could be, from the point of view that we create our own reality. In Exploring and Creating Our Reality I stated: “I believe that reality… [is] thought into being and every action we take is merely a follow through of each of our thoughts, bringing those thoughts into existence until they become fully developed physical manifestations.” A hallucination is nothing more than an extremely energetic thought that is in the process of being brought into existence, but an element (in the form of action- whatever that may be) has not been taken to fully develop the thought into physical manifestation. In other words hallucinations are partially manifested things, at a level slightly beyond plain thought. They sit on the fence between the physical and ethereal. They have been dwelled upon long enough and by enough people that they are like a snowball rolling downhill. They continue gaining more and more power, yet they still aren’t full physical manifestations.
Another option is that these hallucinations could be actual physical manifestations, in other environments, outside of the earth plane. If we go back to The Energy Matrix theory, in which all things exist in a massive sea of energy, which includes our consciousness, the earth plane, all other physical planetary planes, non-physical planes, thoughts, ideas and much more- we can see the possibilities. Within this energy matrix there is no separation, no past, no present, no future- everything co-exists simultaneously, without the boundaries of time. We are all bouncing thoughts and emotions off of one another, through consciousness.
If this matrix is at the heart of existence and existence stems from it, then it’s quite possible that many sightings could be interpretations of thought, coming from other forms of existence (through the matrix) right into a person’s present existence on the earth plane. The thought is only capable of showing up in the form of a fleeting sighting, not as a fully manifested physical object or creature in our environment. The person, who serves as the receiver or even the originator of the thought, has no idea that they are witnessing a partial manifestation of thought energy. They believe the sighting to be an actual physical object/animal/being that is interacting, in real time and space, on the earth plane. We could also be sending powerful thoughts to other planes of existence as well, and they too are seeing anomalous oddities in their environment. These anomalies may in fact be considered ordinary animals or things on our planet, yet in other environments they would be considered odd. It’s been said that every thought that has ever been thought, past and present, exists “out there.” What if “out there” is in the energy matrix and these anomalies actually exist on other planes of existence? When a person is capable of viewing anomalous hallucinatory thoughts, I believe they are tapping into the same mechanism that powers psychic abilities, foreshadowing, and ESP.
What about mass sightings like the UFOs over Phoenix, Mexico City and parts of the Soviet Union, where hundreds of thousands witnessed the events? Again, I’m not saying that these couldn’t have been the real deal, but what if there was a high concentration of thought energy, partially manifesting through the consciousness of the individuals in those cities? It all started with one person’s ability to decipher it, then it became believable to the others until they too were able to witness the objects. All of this transference is occurring at the subconscious level and appearing, from time to time, at the conscious physical level. So it’s quite believable that what you’re seeing is a physically manifested object.
While this theory could explain anomalous sightings, it doesn’t do much for reports of alien abductions. I feel that the majority of abduction reports have more in common with astral projection and out of body experiences than they do with physical alien interaction. Most of these experiences occur late at night, prior to falling asleep or after immediately waking. Both of these moments, during the sleep state, are ideal for projecting because of the overly detached sensation that accompanies them. Abduction reports center around the physical body being frozen and unable to move, a feeling of being watched by sentient beings, and sensations of falling and levitating. All of these same “symptoms” accompany the out of body state and could easily be confused with abduction scenarios.
There is the possibility that alien abductions do occur, but if we are not being physically visited by them, then they could be traversing the astral plane, similar to our consciousness, for the purpose of testing and experimenting in the astral environment. I know I just moved into a whole other level of strangeness with that last sentence
but it is a possibility; one that I believe is more feasible than physical abductions because it allows for a stealth element that cannot be afforded through physical kidnappings.
The one constant among all reported sightings of anomalies is the disappearance factor. Whether it’s abominable snowmen, UFOs, fairies, the Jersey Devil or skunk apes, they all have the ability to be there one moment and gone the next, without leaving much of a physical trace. Perhaps our thoughts play a bigger role in what we see, smell, taste, hear and touch than we believe. If we are in fact creating our reality, moment by moment (like I believe we are) then maybe hallucinations should no longer be ridiculed or laughed at. Hallucinations may be indicators of a high volume of concentrated powerful thought that is being interpreted by the consciousness of the perceiver(s) of the hallucination. These hallucinations are either not capable of reaching full manifestation on the earth plane or else they exist on other planes of consciousness, only to show themselves as thoughts with the capability of displaying partial physical attributes here on earth.
