Jack-O-Lantern 17

March 21st, 2009 by John Wolfe

Baking soda didn’t make for the easiest substance to draw in, but it didn’t turn out too bad. The jack-o-lantern eyes and mouth were “hollowed out” using a wet toothpick. What I’m enjoying most about the Jack-O-Lantern a Day project is the wide variety of materials I’m using to create the pumpkins. Some are much easier to work with than others, but all in all it’s extremely fun. Not to mention, I’m getting a lot of practice drawing faces. I should be in good shape come October. :)

Today’s jack-o-lantern was created using duct tape. Because of my groundbreaker corpses and fixing other yard haunt odds and ends, duct tape is never in short supply around my house. I created the general shape of the jack-o-lantern body, eyes, mouth and stem on the concrete floor and then cut in the details using a razor blade.
