Cornstalks Under-Cover

Halloween Corpse

This October has been far more plentiful in terms of rain and wind. Last year, my Halloween prep only saw a few heavy breezes with no moisture. We received another two or three inches of rain today, along with huge gusts of wind. Fortunately, I had already erected a tarp over my cornstalk work area. The stalks have been through a lot in two weeks, but they’re still holding nice shape. The rest of the bundles are on the patio.

As I finish each fence (there are two more to be completed), I’ll move the entire display to the porch and secure it to the railing where it will stay until Halloween. The next (empty) fence will then be set in place, under the cover, to start the attaching process again. It would have been a lot easier to work entirely on the front porch, but the space is limited.

On a related note, I’m still planning on posting Halloween Haunter’s Reality #4 soon. It should have already been up, but recently the majority of my focus has been on taking care of cornstalks.

John, your corn stalks look wonderful!!! I would have never known that they had been through so much. Clearly your dedication and sweat and tears has indeed paid off nicely. I think the stalks look great! Oh, I for one cannot wait for the next installment of the Haunters Reality. I will most certainly be anticipating the video very much. Well, it’s off to pack for my house/Boxer sitting for 2 weeks. I can’t believe how much I have to take with me, good thing my folks are close by! Keep up the great work John, it’s paying off :-)

That’s the beauty in creating Halloween decor – even if something gets a little roughed up, everything is meant to look creepy anyway! Then, you add proper ambiant lighting and everything becomes covered in shadows, shapes and misty appearances. By Halloween night, it should be impossible to tell the stalks have been through so much. Glad you like them!

Enjoy your stay at your parents’ house.
