Corpse Update

September 18th, 2008 by John Wolfe

I’ve been working a lot over the last couple of days on my latest graveyard resident. While it’s still in the “structural” stages, I wanted to provide a few new images before moving on to the detail work. This ground breaker prop represents the first I’ve ever built (out of paper) that didn’t have both arms stationed at its sides. While it did take a balancing act of items to hold the arm as I attached it, it wasn’t bad at all.

I held it in place with duct tape and stationed several empty plastic containers underneath to prop it up. After getting it right where I wanted it, I added some heavy coats of mache to the joint and shoulder blade. Several hours of drying time later, the arm was locked securely into place. Aside from the clavicles, all of the bones on the corpse are made out of newspaper. The collar bones were from some extra bucky shoulder joints. The hand is a combination of duct tape, newspaper, wire and cardboard.

As I was putting the bones on the corpse, I grabbed a couple hours of video footage. I then whittled it down, last night, into a two minute time lapse montage….whew, that wasn’t so easy!! :) The video will be included in my next installment of Halloween Haunter’s Reality- which should be posted by tonight.

This last photo was just for fun. It had such a creepy look (despite being slightly blurred), I couldn’t leave it out.

John, I LOVE the time lapse video!!!! Fantastic work dear friend! Plus the music you picked was perfect for the flow in which you were moving. I REALLY love these haunter’s reality videos John. Such an excellent idea! Also, I’m glad you kept that last photo in, even if it was blurred. I had no idea until I read your post that is was blury. That’s one hell of a spooky looking photo and might I add, your most thorough in your photography friend. The black background is the perfect touch to make your props stand out for photo time! Your a “killer” photographer ;-) I really enjoyed your recent video upload John as well as enjoyed the “music” you were playing in the background at the beginning of this video…..hmmm, sounds familar ;-) I know you just posted but I CAN’T WAIT TILL THE NEXT UPLOAD, LoL. I’m rather addicted to these now. Keep up the GREAT artistic flow my friend, this is amazing stuff!

    Many Blessings, Goldie~~~

Thanks, Goldie! I really enjoyed doing the time-lapse segment. Glad you like the prop. The music I used during the time-lapse was something I created from an audio program I own.

About the photography- the camera is the one that makes me look like I know what I’m doing…lol! I’m tellin ‘ya- you got to get a Canon.

Thanks for your support and interest!
