Day Trip: Old Kelly Mine
April 27th, 2010 by John Wolfe
I spent the entire day yesterday taking photos, shooting video and doing a little communicating with the “other side” at the old Kelly, New Mexico ghost town (established around 1883). This was my third trip to Kelly in the last three years and probably one of my most memorable. I grabbed a good bit of footage of the mine’s external structure, the town cemetery, and a couple of dilapidated old buildings, and I’ll be working on turning it all into a video entry over the next couple of days. The shot accompanying this post features the headframe above the mine shaft (click on the image to see a larger pic).

John;
You lucky boy! I wish I were out there knocking around that old place-I adore ghost towns! I can’t wait to see the completed project!

I hope you got some evps or maybe something on video or in the photos. Would love to see what you caught. Glad to see that there are still some people out there with the same interests as me.

autumnforest,
Thanks! Knowing your passion for old locations and abandoned sites, I’m sure you’d would totally fall in love with Kelly. It’s grown on me a lot since first visiting in 2007.
Goldie,
Thanks, my friend. I just finished scanning in around eight photos from Kelly circa 1880s to 1940 for the video, and up next, I’ll be going through all of my footage and editing it together.
ssflipo13,
There’s definitely been some EVP activity on some of the digital recorders we took (including a lot of precursor clicks/pops). Haven’t listened to all of it yet, so not sure if there are going to be any that could be considered Class “A,” but if there are, I may try and put them in a separate video. The video I’m working on now is going to showcase the landscape and a little history of the town, but won’t have anything paranormal in it.
So far, I haven’t found anything strange in my photos, but I’ve yet to watch any of the footage–I’ll be doing that after I grab some lunch.
Same here–I’m always happy to find others who enjoy the paranormal!
Dr. Necropolis,
Oh yeah, it was great! I did have a rather strange visual experience–I’ll be sure and share it in my upcoming Kelly video entry.

It’s truly a fascinating place. I was at Kelly Mine last October and eight earthbound spirits found me and we did a rescue, and as I was leaving one of my guides told me there were more in other parts of the mine. My article is on my blog, and I also include it in my upcoming book “Insights: The Healing Paths of the Radical Spiritualist.” There’s a lot of spirits that get snagged in transition to the Spirit World and can be helped. It’s the ultimate healing to help them. I would be very interested in seeing your video. You can also find my books on Amazon. Love and Light. Robert Egby

The Frog Queen,
Thanks!
Robert Egby,
I would love to read about your experience and will absolutely check it out on your blog. Thank you so much for sharing. While I’m not super intuitive, I’ve always been fairly empathic and can have clairaudient experiences at certain times. Kelly gets my “radar” pinging when it comes to both of those things! It’s certainly somewhat hot when it comes to the paranormal, plus I just love the scenery and the history.
