Fantasy Pumpkins

July 19th, 2009 by John Wolfe

A big thanks to Twitter user Aelwyn, for tipping me off to the AWESOME creations of Fantasy Pumpkins. While every jack-o-lantern at the site is extremely impressive, I was especially taken with this “Fantasia” carving. The talented artist creates his own patterns and generously offers them for free, however, the Disney jack-o-lantern patterns are unavailable due to legal reasons.

If you’ve got a hankering for carving fancy “jacks” this Halloween, Fantasy Pumpkins’ patterns are far better than any store-bought set I’ve come across. While I admire artisans of the gourd, I’ll probably stick to triangle eyes and a jagged mouth once again this Halloween. Hosting the yard haunt keeps me busy enough without the addition of feebly attempting to turn my pumpkins into works of art.

Wow, this was/is stunning work!!! I’ve seen some pretty incredible carvings but never like that before, just amazing. Course nothing beats the wicked smiles you give your pumpkins John…….they always look like they’ve been up to something ;-)

Thanks, my friend, I do love to give them a mischievous grin. Last year, I carved two or three, drew the faces on the other four or five, and Jeff and his son carved the rest for me. They were such a huge help.
