Ghost Girl (Pepper’s Ghost)
July 13th, 2009 by John WolfeOne of the best examples of a Pepper’s Ghost Illusion I’ve come across for an “amateur” Halloween haunter. According to the owner, 5qu1d, this is the actual sequence with no post processing or manipulation of the footage.
This is the style of ghost I would love to have inhabiting my cemetery, but the effect utilizes a pane of glass and special lighting to create the illusion of the apparition. In a small yard haunt setting that’s not really feasible, but I’ll keep digging. There’s still time, I’m not looking to switch the haunt from zombies to ghosts until Halloween ’10.

Oh man!!!! If I EVEN saw something like this at the “old cemetery” and it turned to look at me, John, it would take everything in me to NOT drop my video recorder. How cool is this for an effect though? It sure would creep out most anyone trick-or-treating, including the grown-ups I bet! I noticed part of the “latern tour” also create this same kind of effect outside between grave stones. Now if only they did ALL of the latern tour like that, chances are it would be a hit and their revenue would go up greatly. This is a great find though and you sure do have a way of finding this stuff on youtube my friend

It’s such an awesome special effect. Pepper’s Ghost is the illusion they use for the ballroom sequence at Disney’s Haunted mansion. You’re right, if the lantern tour could somehow work this effect into the majority of their tour, then they would no doubt have large turnouts. However, for me, there would still be something way too disrespectful about creating a Pepper’s Ghost illusion in a real cemetery.
Glad you enjoyed the find!

I LOVE this effect, and you can do it really cheap. I’m going to try it this Halloween. I like the hint of attention that this one gives, though, just for that one second. I never knew it was called Pepper’s Ghost. I got the idea from http://bigscreamtv.info/ They teach you how to do the idea really well.
