Halloween Breath

August 8th, 2009 by John Wolfe

Each year, as summer begins its descent and fall encroaches, I feel a tug to navigate the aisles of the nearest organic grocery store. No cart or shopping list ever accompanies me, however, because I’m there for one thing, and one thing only: to obtain Halloween breath. A few years back, at Pumpkinrot’s original Brewing page (prior to it becoming a blog), he recommended Tom’s of Maine Cinnamon-Clove toothpaste. The product endorsement provided by Pumpkinrot (under the image of a grinning creature) simply read, “Brush your teeth with Halloween.” I’m glad I took his advice.

The only reason I don’t brush my teeth with Halloween throughout the year is to prevent my taste buds from becoming over-acclimated to the product. I like to save Tom’s Cinnamon-Clove flavor for late summer and fall because it helps to solidify that nostalgic Halloween feeling.

You will LOVE this toothpaste if you like the spice of cinnamon John. This is a year round toothpaste at our natural foods co-op store and the only toothpaste I use. Now it IS very STRONG in cinnamon flavor, which is also why I love it so much, so if you don’t like spicy things in your mouth, you might not like this one so much but your a big boy, you’ll figure it out.

Hey, 2 days ago our high temp outside was a blistering 72 degrees (wow, I know!!!) so by nightfall it was down in the low 60′s and I was getting rather cold. Then it dawned on me I could FINALLY light some of my many scented candles around my home and have a delightful smell caressing my nose. Guess which flavor I chose? How did you know!!! Pumpkin spice and the orange/clove candle. Ahhhhhhh, it smelled like October in here and felt like it too. For a brief moment in time I was experiencing fall feelings in the middle of summer time and it FELT GREAT, smelled good too. Love the smell of pumpkins and cloves. If that were made into a perfume, I would buy it by the box load ;-)

    Have a wonderful weekend, Goldie~*~

Oh and I LOVE your collection of Halloween candy!!!!! Some of those pieces brought back childhood memories for me like the waxed fangs and big red lips. I’m glad you added that section to your SOS Halloween Store items John, thank you!! :-)

    autumnforest,

    Thanks. Glad you liked it.

    Goldie,

Yeah, they stock the cinnamon-clove flavor throughout the year here as well, but I save it especially for fall. It’s a routine I’ve been doing since 2007. You guys have been having some crazy weather patterns. We haven’t dipped under 90 degrees all summer. I’m not sure about pumpkin and clove perfume, but Sephora or Philosophy (I get those two confused) makes pumpkin and licorice body wash. I don’t have the link right now, but I posted an entry about them — I believe it was last November. I’ve been thinking that Halloween body wash would make a good giveaway item.

Glad you’re enjoying the candy section. One thing we used to have as kids was a wax lip type of candy that had a sugary liquid inside. If you bit off a piece of the wax, you could then drink the liquid. I haven’t been able to find any of those.
