Halloween Goblin Nog

October 12th, 2009 by John Wolfe

Halloween Egg Nog has once again started appearing on local store shelves! Being a huge fan of egg nog in general, I’m twice as thrilled to see it wrapped in a Halloween themed carton. Years ago, when I used to work in grocery, we had two companies supplying us with Halloween egg nog. Sadly, one of them (Borden) no longer makes it but at least we still have the Creamland variety. I believe it was Borden who used to call it “Goblin Nog.”

That name stuck with me and I still refer to it as “goblin juice” or “the nog of the goblin.” Come to think of it, that last one doesn’t sound too appetizing when I phrase it that way! :) Seriously though, it’s super good stuff. Thanks, Creamland!

Here are a few Halloween jokes that are always featured on the packaging:

1.) Where do little ghosts learn to yell “BOO!”?

2.) How do you picture yourself flying on a broom?

3.) What did the papa ghost say to the baby ghost?

4.) Who does a ghoul fall in love with?

Answers:

1.) In noisery school.

2.) By witchful thinking.

3.) Fasten your sheet belt.

4.) His ghoul friend.

Obviously these were written for kids and not a grownup in his thirties. Of course, the thirty part fits me, but the grownup part may be up for debate. :D Whatever the case, I still enjoy reading them.

I love it! That’s wickedly cool. Gonna have to keep my eyes open for it. My son adores nog and hates to wait for Xmas.

As mentioned last year, we don’t get Halloween Egg Nogg at our stores here but by November 1 the Christmas Egg Nogg does roll in and I’m fast to grab half a gallon :-) I used to buy the “real” egg nogg and then Sunnyside came out with a fat free version that tastes remarkably like the real thing with the added bonus of keeping the fat/calories down. Always something I’m looking out for.

LoL, well since I got a giggle out of those jokes I guess that says something about me too. Ironically I came across a rather funny Halloween card but had a pinch of adult humor in it. It’s a surprise for someone special, who hopefully will enjoy it just as much as I did. Oh and do tell–the beautiful wood table and corner shelf often in your photos, are those yours? Did you make them? My favorite type of furniture are the more natural wood look. The corner shelf looks hand crafted……..I was just curious.

Great posting, oh, just a note, when your XM is up louder than usual, it makes it hard to hear you if you are talking. I think the XM is closer to the webcam than you are at that point so I just wanted to give you a head up about that :-)

I forgot to ask you, what’s your highest score playing A Murder of Scarecrows?

    autumnforest,

Glad to hear I’m not the only one who loves it. I know a lot of people don’t like it. When I drink Egg Nog, I treat it like a wine connoisseur: sniff it, swirl it and then sip it slowly, only I don’t spit it out… LOL!

    Goldie,

The shelf and table are mine, well sort of. They used to be at my parent’s place but I have them now. The shelf was store bought, but my grandfather made the table. I love his furniture — it’s very rustic. He makes small tables, benches and bird houses.

Thanks for letting me know about the radio on the webcam. I’ll have to speak up or turn the radio down when I get a hankering to start yapping. :)

I think the highest I’ve gotten is 450 or 500, it’s been a while (other than when I played the other night).

I am actually having an OMG moment. I detest waiting for X-mas for eggnog.

I’m the same way, Sparky S.S. I love egg nog so much that I would buy it even if it didn’t have Halloween decor on the packaging, as long as it was on store shelves well before Christmas. I noticed that my local grocers are already carrying the Southern Comfort Christmas Egg Nog as well.
