Halloween Groundbreaker Cake

February 5th, 2009 by John Wolfe

Honestly, I don’t think I could bring myself to cut a piece of this cake. The detail work is gorgeous. It’s so good, it almost doesn’t look edible, and I mean that in the most complimentary way. It looks to have been molded or sculpted from a material which is far more forgiving than confectionery items. This amazing handy work belongs to the Flick user: CourtneysCakes. While I’m not sure if Courtney sells her Halloween masterpieces, I do know she sells creative “cakes” for expectant mothers. If you’re interested in finding out more about her services, she can be reached here.

That’s the best Halloween cake I’ve ever seen. Hands down (or reaching for your throat, as the case may be).

Pretty amazing that someone that can make all those cutsie little cakes can so easily step over category lines and create such a creepy masterpiece… says a lot for her talent…. then again, I guess baby cakes ARE a lot more lucrative than Halloween cakes ;)

    Nice post, thank you.

Wow, SOS looks kick ass on my new notebook….what crisp clarity, amazing! Same goes for this cake, what the……!!! She did an incredible job on the cake and I too would have a hard time cutting into him. If I did cut into a piece, I would have to make it symbolic of the cake, like he’s being murdered twice or something, although just biting off his fingers looks tempting enough ;-) Plus you know me John, I would love to take a big bite right out of his face, maybe his mouth….no biting off his left over nose would be fun. LoL, guess I have a goulish cake fetish ;-) There’s a show on cable called “Amazing Cakes” and I’m often shocked at what is being done in cake decoration these days.

For my BD as a young girl, I would get the barbie cake, you know, the one with a full skirt all decked out in flowers and lace? Still great but boy, if my Mom would still bake and decorate today, I know EXACTLY what kind of cake she would make me now that I’m in my 40′s ;-) Moreover, I know exactly where I would take my first bite on “that” design ;-) Hehehehe, ok, I’m done. Great find…..bet your surprised the “doors” it opens into my own past often. Only you could do that John, only youuuuuu! Great now I’m singing an oldie!

Oooooh, she doesn’t make real cakes, her diaper cakes are rolled up diapers or wash rags or pads but all rolled up together to make it look like a 3 or 5 tier cake!! Brilliant! I just saw her website and how on earth you found THIS spooky looking cake out of her “baby” newborn “cake” website just floors me. This sort of reminds me of my current profession as oppose to what was my short term “profession” a few years back…..LOL truly like apples and oranges, or……..bananas and watermelons the two professions are so drastically different ;-) Glad I wasn’t the only one!

    Ghoul Friday,
I agree. Imagine if she took her Halloween cake building talent and translated it into prop building. Granted, it’s a whole different animal, but even if 50% of her cake creativity came through in her props, they would be phenomenal.

    Dawn,

She’s definitely extremely versatile. I was hoping she was running an actual cake making business online and her zombie cakes could be specially ordered. But, I was only able to find her products for expectant mothers. It would probably be tough to ship a cake and keep it in one piece.

    Goldie,

Glad to hear you’re enjoying Season of Shadows in your new notebook. I’d been meaning to ask if you had checked it out yet. It sounds like your mom did an awesome job – especially with what she made for your step dad. ;) There’s a candy shop in Albuquerque which specializes in those types of treats.

Yeah, Courtney’s online shop is pretty unique. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like those diaper cakes before. I found her zombie cake first, after a lot of searching and then backtracked, assuming someone with professional capabilities such as hers would have to have an official website.
