Halloween Pinkeye
September 25th, 2009 by John Wolfe
My all-time favorite episode of South park just happens to be a Halloween installment — coincidence? Nah. SP’s initial nod to Halloween first aired on October 29, 1997. I distinctly remember coming in from working on the haunted house (back then we did an enclosed haunt) and watching “Pinkeye.” The basic synopsis: Zombies terrorize the town thanks to Kenny’s reanimation via Worcestershire Sauce tainted embalming fluid. The outbreak of the undead is thought to be a bad case of pinkeye; the solution — why, treat it with topical cream of course.
Though it’s an oldie, it’s still a goodie and never fails to put me in the Halloween spirit, based solely on the context of watching it during my 1997 haunt prep. If you’d like to view the full episode, there’s a link at the end of this clip.

Thanks. I admit to never having watched the show, but I’m willing to watch any show that does Halloween episodes!

Though I’ve never been a SP fan, I can appreciate the humor of this video. You KNOW where I’m taking this………now you want to talk about OLD school John……..as you already know, my all time favorite, still to this day, is the great classic from 1966 “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!” There’s this odd feeling of emotions that come over me that can’t really be described. It’s not that it takes me back to my youth or that the cartoon is spooky, because it’s not, but I can remember seeing that cartoon around the age of 3-4 and so far not a single year has gone by where I’ve missed seeing it on tv. Even just thinking about it takes me back to “that feeling” so thank you for posting this because you’ve reminded me to look up when it’s going to be on next month.
Glad to hear your missing your EVP tapings. I find it’s much easier to tape anywhere from 10-30 minutes and then move my location and repeat. This way upon playback with my BOSE, I can spend more delicate time in listening to what is being said to me. I’ve been experimenting with nap time this week, after the gym, and I’ve managed to train myself to fall asleep enough to move into another realm of conscience. Upon doing so, I kid you not, I hear some very odd things in my apartment. Just a couple of hours ago I was in sleep for about 20 minutes and I heard a page of a book gently being turned. I woke, thinking I left my book open in front of the fan………..my book was closed :-0 The sound was right by my ear!!!! Last night I heard my bedroom door close……..I woke quickly, grabbed my flashlight and my door was still open……….thank God. Just some really interesting things that I can’t wait to share with you in say………December

Goldie,
Charlie Brown has been a fixture for me as well, but I can’t say I’ve never missed an airing of the Peanuts Halloween special. There’s been a lot of times I’ve forgotten about watching it. For several years I worked the night shift, so I was constantly away from television during the evening and I would never even mess with setting my VCR. I happened to catch the South Park Halloween because I was on vacation from work that week.
Yeah, I’m going to switch to shorter recording sessions, once I start back on EVP work. For two reasons, really: time management and my sanity (if there’s any left to sustain… LOL). The more time I spend delving into EVP, the stranger the head space I tend to drift into. I think it goes back to the empathic thing and my capability for hearing the voices as they communicate in real-time. I’ve found EVP can get me into a deep funk rather quickly. The energy shift is extremely noticeable.
I do look forward to hearing about your experiences when we have an opportunity to catch up!
