Halloween Skyline

March 2nd, 2009 by John Wolfe

I thought this was a very nice, festive Halloween image of the Seattle Art Museum building, taken by Seacat on October 31st, 2007. It’s been years since I’ve lived in large metropolitan areas, but I don’t recall any of them getting into the Halloween spirit quite like this. The only thing missing from this display is a flicker effect in the eyes, nose and mouth. Now, I haven’t seen video footage, only this still photo, so they may have had the lights flickering. Hopefully Seacat will stop by and let me know.

I would be amazed if there wasn’t a video or a better picture of some kind of this. I mean, somewhere. They went through so much trouble, and I totally respect it, but there has to be some documentation on their part. This looks like it was taken by someone from afar, and the people who thought of it probably have something…

    HalloweenLvrNo1,

Good point. I’ll search You Tube and see what I can come up with. The flickering may have been a little tricky to do, since it looks as though they were using neon office lights to power the display, but it would be cool if they did work it out. They definitely did a great job on coordinating the logistics for determining what lights would need to be on vs. off for creating the jack-o-lantern.
