Halloween Sodas ’09

October 2nd, 2009 by John Wolfe

Jones Halloween lineup is in stores once again. They usually introduce new images each year, but there doesn’t appear to be a change to the packaging from last Halloween. Last year, I picked up Candy Corn and SpooooKiwi. This time around, in the cans, I grabbed Lemon Drop Dead and Buried Pomegranate; in the bottles, it was Blood Orange. I love the rotting jack-o-lantern photo on the Blood Orange!

I just cracked open the first bottle a few minutes ago — it’s flavor reminds me a lot of Orange Crush. My “fortune” on the underside of the cap reads: “Make As Many Corrections As You Consider Needed.” Boy, do they know me. That’s the motto I use while creating my groundbreakers (and just about anything else). :)

I didn’t try the lemon or pomegranate flavors. They’ve already been dropped off at my grandparents’ house. I’m the cereal nut, while my grandfather’s the soda fiend.

Awesome! You just reminded me–I always go to Cost Plus or my local gourmet supermarket in October to get pumpkin ale. It’s so refreshing and has a taste that’s awesomely different than just beer.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up!

    Cheers!

Jones sodas rock! Their normal lemon lime flavor is my favorite. I’ll have to check the Halloween flavors out!

Woah, a lemon flavored soda?? Now that I have to try! Thanks to you John, I now have a craving for Orange Crush Soda ;-) I haven’t had one of those in years but I sure wouldn’t mind trying a lemon soda. I’ve been on a lemon and grapefruit kick now for about 3 weeks. Just can’t eat enough of them, nor suck down enough of the delightful juices from the fruits. Go figure. I should be craving my pumpkin drink more than a citrus drink but……ya never know with me ;-)

    autumnforest,

I’ve heard of the pumpkin ale. Though I don’t drink, I’d love to try one of those. I can always give the rest to my grandfather (think Life cereal commercials, “Hey, Mikey…”) :) I’ll have to keep my eyes open for that.

    The Frog Queen,

    You’re welcome. It’s my pleasure.

    Doug,

If you try them, please let me know what flavors your stores are carrying. My Target stores are pretty much carrying the same stuff as last year.

I mailed your package yesterday, so you should be getting it by mid-week.

    Goldie,

If you like sour, then you’ll love their Lemon Drop. My grandfather said it had a sour taste despite a lot of sugar content. After today’s entry (More Ghosts, More Shakes), maybe that will get you off of the citrus and back on the sweet stuff — eventually leading to pumpkin ice cream. ;) I’m still on the lookout for that one.
