Goldie,

You're absolutely right. I agree with you about the gore stuff, that's why I never watch horror films. Give me a good supernatural movie over gore any day. The detail work you mentioned is exactly the same with the WB cartoons. I wish I could find those old classics. I've checked You Tube but no one seems to have uploaded them. Artists at the turn of the century and a few decades beyond had a superbly, unique style when it came to capturing the spirit of Halloween night.

halloween spirit,

Thanks, glad you like it.

This reminds me of my Halloween book from the elementary school library. You know this about me already but I really favor the more classic art work and drawings of Halloween than todays blood and gore. To me, blood and gore is not scary, it's sick. But, to create an image like this that can actually place you IN the picture with the boys and give you goosebumps is classic and hard to pull off these days.

Another aspect I admire about the more vintage style of drawings is the amount of thought out detail that goes into it. It's not just two boys walking through the woods. It's two boys scared to death, carrying their carved pumpkins, massive knife (good eye for detail John!) and all trying hard to avoid the spooks of that Halloween night. It really creates an atmosphere.......does that make sense? LoL ;-) Though I do appreciate the CGI of today, there is MUCH to be said of the good old fashioned style of art and spooking. Really nice image.........great find dear friend!!!
