Halloween Trays
September 21st, 2009 by John Wolfe
Recently added to my collection, these two trays are sort of a mashup of Day of the Dead skeletons and the vintage portrayals of Halloween avatars from decades past. I’m in the process of trying to find a location to display my stuff, as the collection continues to expand. Right now, everything is pretty much starting to pile up in a Halloween shrine near my bed. I don’t really want to move it, though, because my skulls, jack-o-lanterns, witches, etc. are the first things I see each morning. I have to start my day off right.

Oh my gosh, what an adorable little skeleton girl!! She would fit in just right with my decor right now and, thanks to yet another trip to Michael’s (curse you craft store of Halloween goodies!) I have even MORE Halloween decoration this year than the past 6 years combined. Eeeeeeeee, my place looks GREAT!
You have everything next to your bed John? How about……keeping just a couple of choice items there and, indeed, spread it out through the rooms you use? I thought for sure every room of your home would have some Halloween here and Halloween there. Odd to think it’s all kept in one spot. Do ya’ll have a Michael’s craft store there in New Mexico? If you do and have never visited during the Halloween time (like now!) then I highly encourage you to do. You’ll find all sorts of cool things. I went today with the intention of making some harvest flower arrangements and came out with 2 full bags (they did have a great 50% of sale) of skeletons, pumpkins, ghost thingies, a couple of things for someone special which led to making a ghost gift basket for this person as well. I just had to have the perfect touch for this ghost basket
Anyways, adorable plates/trays. You can always make a thin tray shelf that you can hang from your wall and the cats couldn’t get up there to knock it all down. Shelves are great because then you can also hang things from them, like skeletons, ghosts, bats, spider and so forth. You can tell I’m in a Halloween creative mode……lol, plus it’s vacation week for me so look out world……lol. Thank you for sharing this with us all and I can’t wait to see how the face of your corpse it turning out.

Goldie,
As my collection continues to grow, I may have to do that. I do have Halloween things in other places, but those are mostly outdoor items. Skulls, arm bones, leg bones and groundbreakers occupy a lot of the space. My corpses may have to start paying rent soon.
You should see how big the scarecrow is in the house. So, all my indoor knickknacks have been taking up residence in my room.
We do have Michaels here, but it’s a good thirty miles from me and I haven’t taken the time to go yet. I went last year and am hoping to go soon, along with a stop at Party City again. That ghost basket sounds really awesome!
Glad to hear you’re even more inspired and creative this year than last season. Have a great vacation!
jaz,
Do you happen to have any foam skulls you’d be willing to part with? I love using foam skulls for my groundbreakers’ heads. But, I may have to start “casting” skulls soon, since none of the Halloween stores are carrying any realistic foam or plastic skulls this year.
