Halloween Witch Cam
July 18th, 2009 by John WolfeI originally saw this great Halloween footage almost three years ago, but I lost the link and just relocated it today. The video features trick-or-treaters’ spooked reactions to a pneumatic, cackling witch.

That was fun to watch. I’m really looking forward to this year. Nothing like hearing those screams followed by laughter.

LoL, OMG this was great!!!! Now John, you saw the first girls reaction, the one as the cheerleader……ME without a doubt. What I thought was funny was how they door wasn’t even open yet and she was yelling “Trick-or-Treat.” Actually even some of the 3 year olds handled the surprise of the witch better than she/I did. Sad I know
Now that’s more like what you would need for a yard haunt: to have something(s) really spooky happen but that could be protected from behind bars. That way if it scared someone real good, they couldn’t thrash your hard work. Great camera set up too!! It did a good job of catching the first reactions. Sure was fun to watch!!! It’s alot different enjoying that in the safety of my own home and viewing it on screen than to be subjected to it first hand…….as you well know about me

Oh, just saw the material and lighting effect on the “Hitching Ghost” from the above mention youtube source and, other than the movement of them, I like that effect. The material they used was very light and translucent so it looked very floaty and that soft blue lighting under them was just right to give it that ghostly look. Personally I would have liked to see them move around in a more unpredictable fashion which would scare the trick-or-treaters in a much better way. Predictable movement is never really scary, it’s the ones you DON’T expect that scare ya right out of your shoes
Like the sound of a chainsaw going off suddenly in the dark……talk about making the heart pound!

Dave,
Thanks, great to hear from you!
Goldie,
Yeah, protecting your hard work is so important, especially if it’s a prop-in-action. The owner definitely had a great setup for protecting both his hard work and keeping the trick-or-treaters a safe distance from the jerky movement. I didn’t happen to see the video of the Hitching Ghost. Thanks, I’ll go back and check that one out.

I wish I had a house for this. I just have a regular rectangular house, so the front of it is just flat., and there’s really no corners or anything for surprises like this. I might be moving this year, so I’ll be on the look out.

HalloweenLvrNo1,
I know what you mean. When I was growing up, my dad was in the military. We would move every two or three years, so I never knew what type of home we would be in come Halloween. In the early years that didn’t matter so much because I always went trick-or-treating, but by age eleven I was ready to start setting up my own yard haunts.
Best of luck if you move. I hope you find a place that has some great haunting potential.
