Haunted Dolls
September 24th, 2009 by John Wolfe
I came across this photo this morning and was instantly reminded of last week’s episode of Destination Truth. In case you missed it, the team visited an island reported to be haunted by the spirit of a little girl who drowned at the water’s edge. After her passing, the island’s caretaker decided to appease the girl’s spirit (he hoped) by littering the island with thousands of dolls. Unfortunately, according to locals, the girl’s energy is utilizing the toys as a means for interacting with the living.
Now, I don’t know if the dolls were actually haunted or not, but the Halloween enthusiast in me loved the creepy sight of these scary looking dolls all over the island.
I’m really enjoying Destination Truth since they’ve been including more treks into ghostly realms. The evidence they’ve uncovered has been more impressive than anything Ghost Hunters has come across in its last two seasons. I understand you can’t always get spirits to “perform” on cue, however, Josh and his team seem to be consistently finding remote, yet highly charged locations.
I’ve included the full episode below. I’m not sure how long it will be available, as SyFy doesn’t leave these on Hulu indefinitely.

I was so inspired by that episode that I bought a ton of dolls from the thrift store and crackle painted some, buried and dirtied up some, scorched some, and used fake skin and blisters on others. I tied them to stakes, propped them up, and lined them up around a shed in the yard so they can age by Halloween. When I have the party going, I’m going to project a scary doll movie by Brothers Quay on the wall of the shed with the dolls all around it. I even got a mannequin and a ventriloquist doll. The only thing missing is a clown doll-that would finish the creepy effect!

What? Why have I not heard of this? Thank goodness for your postings John or I would fall out of the loop more times than I care to count
Oh goodie, the entire episode!!!! Far out John, thank you so much. Season Of Shadows is a one stop World Wide Web/haunting/paranormal/Halloween Stop!
OMG!!! This was great, that time just flew by! I really like how this team works and their equipment is truly outstanding. I think I would have jumped a few feet if I were standing near that doll as it opened one eye. Holy Moly! I also liked how this show gave us not one, but two locations they went to. That dude is one brave guy for diving into the Blue Hole to see this creature. Sure isn’t something I would do. On land and dry is one thing, hundreds of feet under water……..noooooo thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve missed my heavy EVP research days and this just wet my whistle perfectly. I know you have much to do with Halloween coming fast but do you also miss your EVP research John? I love the results that you were getting. Spirits seems VERY reactive to your energy signature and you have some highly active supernatural locations there in New Mexico. Great find dear friend and I’m really pleased you webcamed this year………it’s awesome to watch!

autumnforest,
Nice! Especially living Arizona, that sun will weather their skin in no time. I love the Brothers Quay stuff — creepy. A few of their films have been uploaded to You Tube. I hope you post some photos of your party, I’m looking forward to seeing them.
Goldie,
That’s what I’m here for, my friend.
I always hope I can bring something out into the open that may be new to visitors and/or worth revisiting for those that have seen it. I have to agree about the underwater stuff. At that depth, it’s a huge risk — “monster” or not. I have been missing working with EVP. Eventually, I’d like to start recording again, but in smaller segments. Working on three and four hours of audio just took way too long.
Thanks again about the webcam!

I truly believe that dolls can be haunted. There is a unique paranormal cam out there called the Doll House. It is a cam set on 4 haunted dolls. People are invited to watch for activity surrounding these dolls. The site is http://ghostwalklive.com/dollcam.html
