Haunted Garage

May 18th, 2010 by John Wolfe

In many German-speaking countries, there’s a holiday that’s slightly similar to Halloween, at least when it comes to the concept of “begging” for candy. On November 11th, children travel door to door carrying paper lanterns and searching for treats in honor of St. Martin. While the majority of references I’ve found online pertaining to St. Martin’s Day don’t describe it as a spooky celebration, it’s great to see the homeowner in this vid bring a Halloween vibe to the candy trek anyway.

Though this display wouldn’t be considered elaborate by American home haunt standards, it’s still genius in the way it messes with the visitors’ minds. Back in my trick-or-treating days, had I encountered a home on Halloween night with this particular style and setup, I would have had a blast, and probably a few nightmares about the “old lady” peeking at me while calling down from the upstairs window!

that was a great video. I watched all 4 parts. I like the idea of the granny in the window daring the kids to go in. the garage was very cool and eerie. This video really messes with your head . Awesome job!

Thanks for watching and for your comment. I watched through part 2, but am still looking forward to finishing the last two parts. You’re absolutely right–even though there aren’t any startle scares, the mood and atmosphere is set perfectly just by messing with your head!

    Count me in !

How do you know a zombie is tired?
    He’s dead on his feet.

One a serious note, if you are having trouble with spammers you might consider experimenting with google forms. I’m going to test it out with my next giveaway.

Awesome, Barry, thanks for entering and for the joke–I can always count on jocularity in your entries! LOL, I love saying the word “jocularity,” it always reminds me of William Christopher’s character, Father Mulchahy (sp?), on MASH.

Thanks for the tip on g-forms, I’ll look into it.
