Haunted Houses in Albuquerque

May 19th, 2009 by John Wolfe

When it comes to professional Halloween attractions and haunted houses, it’s slim picking in New Mexico’s largest city. Just to show you how far and few between haunts are here, I’ve seen my Halloween display listed online as an attraction near the Albuquerque area. While I appreciate the promotion, SOS is no where near a professional level haunt. In terms of sheer size, you pretty much have two choices for Albuquerque haunted houses: Primitive Fear and 13th Street Manor.

I was extremely eager to attend Primitive Fear for the first time last year with my video camera in hand, but never received the go ahead from the owners. I thought a walk-through would make a good segment for the Halloween Haunter’s Reality Videos.

For me, the best part about attending a haunted attraction as a patron is going with friends and blending in with the professional scares! It’s always fun to stick close to the most skittish friend (in our case it was the girlfriend of my best friend) in the group. As the animatronic and actor induced scares of the haunt would begin, I could always be counted on to provide some additional frightening moments behind her back. :D

LoL, needless to say, you would NOT want to be behind ME going through a haunted house, if you could even get me in one!!! I would be jumping non-stop plus my screams would kill your ears! Not to mention, never would I allow ME to be first in line, Oh No my friend, it would be YOU who would be walking through first with me hanging onto the back of YOUR t-shirt ;-) Nice try, I wouldn’t be the first one in………YOU would!!! TeeHee ;-)

That’s actually similar to my friend’s girlfriend’s logic as well – she assumed being between the two of us was the best location. After our first visit, she realized fairly quickly that I was “working” for the haunted house. :)

I would most likely be the skittish friend, climbing all over everyone trying to get away from the scary stuff. That’s right. When it comes down to it, I’m a wimp and I’m not afraid to say it. :)

Like I said, and like you know, you’ll never catch ME in a haunted house ever again! ;-) Well, I should say a haunted house built by humans because some would say that I AM living IN a haunted house, or working, rather, I should say. I recorded more dialogue yesterday John. It’s the same two females as last time making comments back and forth while I was using the microwave in the kitchen. My findings are most different from most EVPs I’ve come upon online. I’m very curious as to how your journey went on Wednesday but I’ll share with you when you have more time.

Have a Grrrrrrrrrrrrreat Day, Goldie (and her clan ;-)

    Andrea,

There’s nothing wrong with that. If you’re ever in New Mexico be sure and look me up, I’d be more than happy to accompany you through a local haunt. ;)

    Goldie,

After working so closely with the EVP recordings, the term haunted takes on a totally different meaning – I’m sure you know what I mean. Haunted definitely seems like a term that’s more associated in my vocabulary with Halloween and dark attractions and not the paranormal, now more than ever. As we continue to research the phenomena, my interpretation shifts and I’ve begun viewing it as more of a parallel reality than anything else. I know you feel the same about the word ghost, though I still use it for clarifying the term EVP.

  6. Goldie Says:

You had said, “my interpretation shifts and I’ve begun viewing it as more of a parallel reality than anything else.” This sentence could be taken a few ways or perhaps I’m to much of a deep thinker and always digging deeper but you know that about me. I do agree fully about parallel realities and probably on many different levels all working simultaneously, but were you referring to the EVP’s? Meaning, for example what happened to me this morning with “my spot”, that was unambiguously a conversation between me and her in real time. It didn’t feel like a parallel shift of two time-lines but it would be of realities because she and I are living in two different worlds though we appear to share the same planet for now. It felt like real time action, indeed a very specific moment in time right at that very moment between she and I, which still blows my mind.

LoL, never mind my dear friend, I’m in a deep analytical mood right now. Oh wait, lol, I bet you mean the “haunted house” where I work and how I’m hearing those two females go back and forth in conversation and every once in a while, observe me and make comments out loud about it…..”what’s she doing?” “Keeping time.” What a mind blowing thought!!! That somehow the digital recorders are able to pick up spoken words from another reality that is somehow parallel to ours!!! I wish we were taught about this in high school instead of mundane things to bore the brain, geez. Sorry dear friend, slow at the wheel tonight but I got it ;-)

Parallel reality may be a bad choice on my part if it’s taken in a quantum physics sort of way. I probably should say it’s more like two worlds colliding or dimensions interacting. Maybe that collision is what brings us back to the explanation of the clicking sounds.

  8. Goldie Says:

Actually, dear friend, I kindly disagree with the clicks. I have noticed that, between your recordings, with my recordings so far, the clicking sound does seem to happen either prior to a voice sound coming through OR they use it as a “yes-no” response. Just this last weekend, my friend in the bush started using the clicks to confirm somethings I was asking her. In that same recording, I asked her, “would you like to tell me what year you were born? and she replied, “why?” LoL…..I tell ya, it was quite the sesson.

  9. John Wolfe Says:

It’s possible that they are being used for communication as well as signifying speech is about to occur. I guess, for me, the verdict is still out on exactly what the clicks are indicating as I can’t find enough of a consistency in either direction to say for certain. However, they are absolutely paranormal in nature.
