Haunters’ Hangout Scarecrow
February 7th, 2009 by John Wolfe
I’ve had my eye on the Haunters’ Hangout Scarecrow for about three years now. This prop provided early inspiration during the days when Season of Shadows existed solely in my gray matter (boy, was it lonely in there
). The scarecrow creation was born out of an Ottawa jewelry store’s need to provide an entry in the town’s Scarecrowfest competition. The prop features a combination of materials, but what really provides the creep factor is the Monster Mud coating applied over the framework, clothing and mask.
Monster Mud has a way of making anything look sinister and statuesque in a Gothic manner. Though I ‘m very impressed by the scarecrow, I don’t believe these images do it justice. I would love to see it through the lens of a great digital camera, while being featured in an actual Halloween haunt setting with ambient lighting. Either way, it’s still a rockin’ prop!
