In Search of Spirit Voices

January 14th, 2010 by John Wolfe

Continuing with another paranormal installment of “In Search of,” this episode deals with audible forms of communication from the “spirit world.” Nimoy takes us on a journey through disembodied sounds, phone calls from the dead and communication through a variety of electronic devices.

While our airwaves were already very polluted with physical forms of communication when this episode aired (1981), at least, at this particular time, cell phones and the like could not have been to blame for causing spirit voice pick-ups.

With recorded spirit voice captures reportedly dating back to the 1950s (a time when airwaves were a lot “cleaner”), it seems there is some legitimacy to this form of communication. Due to some extremely intense personal experiences with disembodied voices (both through recordings and real time audible encounters), I believe in this phenomenon.

Admittedly, some of our recent recorded captures from the last few weeks have proven to be interference or random pick-ups from stray electronic devices. However, the ones we believe to be “spirit voices” appear as direct, follow-up responses to posed questions about intimate or obscure subjects.

When these specific forms of responses “appear,” for me, it all but rules out interference from physically based electronic devices. Not to mention, in our findings, disembodied voices (in EVP form), containing specific responses, have an altogether different sound, cadence, repetition and tell-tale click or popping noise about them.

To date, none of these unique characteristics have been found in any of our interference captures. So, there may be a way to decipher the difference between the two types.

I’m so excited–I have found the series online for sale for like 35 dollars. Not bad. I forgot how much I loved this series. Thanks for reminding me.

I do adore your longer blog entries John but you know what a huge fan I am of your creative writing to begin with.

Aside from the excitement during the recording sessions of evp’s in various locations, I find I’m more anxious to actually HEAR what kind of results were detected. So far, to this date, rarely am I ever disappointed with my findings. At times I’m so curious about the results I’ll bring my BOSE with me so I can listen in right away at the location. Or, I’ll record for about 10 minutes or so, listen to the results and then address what was being said outloud to me. The energy/spirits/ghosts around us are absolutely VERY aware of us and often curious about what it is we’re doing. As you know dear friend, I’ve had countless of responses addressed to me regarding my digital recorder. I’ve heard, “What is that?” and “What does that do?” and “What is that for?” all the while holding my recorder or starting to set things up. Often I’ve wondered, given they are energy, how is it they can “see” what I have in my hand or what it is a place on a grave site. Granted, everything is giving off frequency at all times so perhaps there is a distruption to the field around me or them. I suppose I’m being a bit to human in my questioning ;-)

Evp’s remind me of the Orb phenomenon in that it can always be highly debated of it’s existence even among fellow paranormal enthusiasts. There are those that feel Orb’s are merely dust particles of the elements around us. Others of us have had real time CONSCIOUS movements and reactions to what is being said or what our intentions are, similar to evp’s. You know my personal take on both matters so I’ll leave it at that.

What always gets my goose in videos from the 60′s-70′s is the surroundings and in this case the equipment! Wow! Look at all that gear for recording evp’s, stunning! Here I thought my digital carry bag was big, LoL, it’s like the size of a small foot compared to their 2 car length tables of equipment. To see all the wires and actual tape ribbon that used to go round and round, fantastic. We’ve come a long way baby ;-)

John, I know how much of a sensitive you are to spiritual energies around you so chances are you don’t even need to do this but have you ever gotten certain vibrations from a tomb stone or the area in which you were walking. I know you do to some degree but like with this video they would run their hands over the tomb stones to detect different energy and vibration. Have you done that before? It reminded me of Reiki in which the therapist would be hands off with the body but we could absolutely detect the frequency shifting of the person. I’ve never thought to do that with the tomb stones but for me, often times, I detect something is up just by slowly walking around. If I’m not mistaken, I think it’s a similar situation with you, is it not?

Oh by the way, I read online that a team of paranormal specialists are grouping together and going to do some evp research in the Atlantic Ocean where the Titanic went down in 1912. I have some opinions about that I’ll share in private but it would be awesome if some energies come through to say something. Moreover what a location to go to!!! Even after 100+ years of their departure, I’m sure sitting 2 miles right on top of the Titanic would give off some intense and strange vibrations. In a different way, it reminds me of what you and your Uncle were going to do at the fort. I’m positive that would have been an explosive evp session. Is that something your Mom would be up for….what a duel that would make spiritually as well ;-) (Sorry it’s so long)

Given your comment to AF, I thought you might like to see this 5 minute video by National Geographic channel about Bigfoot.

    autumnforest,

Very cool! From the You Tube comments I had been reading, I didn’t think “In Search of” was available for purchase.

    Goldie,

Thanks for your great comment. No worries about the length. I always enjoy hearing (reading) what’s on readers’ minds about my posts.

Regarding picking up vibes from tombstones, I’ve never tried to do that. Usually, I stand back and do an overall emotional “scan” of a cemetery, then I gravitate towards locations that have a “feeling” about them. That’s why I don’t really like to walk and do EVP work at the same time. I’ll primarily pick out two or three locations inside a cemetery and respectfully position myself and my recorder (stationary) near those spots.

Of course, some of this “feeling” for spots also depends on my temperament and emotional comfort level on any particular day. If I’m feeling overwhelmed or drained in an empathic way, then it’s not a good time to be doing EVP work anyway. Usually, I try to visit cemeteries when my energy is high and my feelings of empathy are a little more closed off (but not fully closed off).

I’m also very quirky in how I treat tombstones, but that should come as no surprise. :) For me, I don’t like touching markers or tombstones unless I’m cleaning them off or placing a flower on them. I feel like I’d be somewhat disrespectful if I went in and started touching all sorts of stones just for the purpose of getting a vibe.

That sounds extremely interesting about the Titanic. I watched James Cameron’s film, “Ghosts of the Abyss” or something like that, a while back and really enjoyed it. This was the film where he went down several times in those mini-subs to explore different parts of the ship. No doubt, if things were quiet enough inside the subs, it would be a great place for EVP work.

I’ve spoken with my mom about possibly going to the battlefield around the fort, it’s still up in the air for now. But, I know for sure we’re going to head back to Kelly one of these days.

Does it have a dude getting attacked by Bigfoot while he’s using the facilities? I meant the dude was using the facilities, not Bigfoot… never mind. :D Now, I’m starting to sound like those beef jerky commercials: Messin’ With Sasquatch. Thanks, I’ll check it out.

  6. Goldie Says:

Your funny John, LoL!! ;-) Sounds like “Grandpa” humor to me, then again I’m one to talk hey John ;-) No, sad to disappoint but that video was more scientific and showed some awesome footprints left behind. Still to this day Bigfoot is such a mystery almost like crop circles and thousands of other paranormal activity.

  7. John Wolfe Says:

Ha! Yeah, my grandpa’s influence is always creeping out. Oddly enough, although it shouldn’t surprise you — my uncle and my great-uncle had a mysterious encounter with something Bigfoot-like many years ago while on a hunting trip. I’ll have to tell you that story one of these days.

    Thanks again for the vid.
