Incredible T-Rex Costume
December 6th, 2009 by John WolfeThough these videos aren’t specifically about Halloween, I’ve always marveled at highly detailed costumes in the same manner I appreciate great Halloween prop work. This “Baby T-Rex” is a phenomenal creation with amazing detail, right down to textured skin and blinking eyes. The operator’s puppeteerring work, inside the costume, is nothing to sneeze at either.
The Rex is part of the “Walking With Dinosaurs” live animatronic program that’s currently on tour.

I love the kids’ reactions in both vids. You’d think a rock star had entered the building!

HOLY MOLY….that looks more real than real itself!!! That would even make me jump a couple of feet. The way the body is moved, the motions of the tail, the turning of the head, WOW, this puppeteer has amazing talent. I thought for sure I was looking at the real thing all along. I liked how he slowed down for posing for his close-ups
Boy John, knowing your childhood love of dinosaurs, you would have been over the moon to view such a thing during your earlier years.
You can find some of the strangest stuff on youtube
On youtube’s front page there is a small box that says “most recommended for you”……..LoL……..I’m curious as to what your box looks like. You must have a huge variety
Thank you, as always, for sharing this.
Oh and I’m pleased to hear the the cats have their uniquely warm places in which they could sleep and be comfy. As usual dear friend, you went beyond making them feel at ease so truly those cats have the best home in the world. Personally though, the cat that crawled under your blankets was the warmest place of all. Our mama Boxer used to always do that with my bed and not only because I was warm under the comforters but that I usually had my electric blanket on under it. LoL, after about 15 minutes under there, she would just poke her head out to cool down her panting. LoL, another reason for the wind tunnel at night

Woah, ok now……better prepare yourself for the cold front. I was watching our weather and saw the map of this new cold front moving from north to south over our nation. Time to layer up for sure! It’s going to get sooooooo cold tonight and tomorrow that we actually have SNOW in our forecast!!!! Like what? Snow through out the night and should have snow for the drive tomorrow at work!!!! How insane is that? I’ve never seen snow in the city, not once. Lake Tahoe is going to reach lows of 3 degrees. Yep, you read it right. Our low is going to be in the 20′s and our highs barely climbing out of the mid forties. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr. Time to bust out my thick hot turtle neck tomorrow for sure. Snow……lol……….I’ve gotta see this!

Goldie,
You’re right! That’s another plus about this video for me, it blends my childhood love of dinosaurs with my childhood and adult love of costumes/Halloween.
My You Tube home page usually has a blend of recommended videos in the areas of spirituality, Halloween, the paranormal and off-the-wall comedy! It’s definitely an eclectic grouping.
Speaking of spirituality and the paranormal, thanks for the great recommendation on video six in that series uploaded by Jedi (can’t remember his full user name). It was awesome! The clear plates of glass theory reminded me of my “cell” (as in celluloid) theory and how they are stacked on one another. I wrote about that way back in the post “Spirits, Specters and Time”… I think that’s the one.
I think the cat under the covers with me probably was the warmest, but it wasn’t a one-sided deal — he was heating up the bed for me too, since he’s almost as large as a medium-size dog!
I didn’t know you guys were in for snow (that’s huge, considering where you’re living), but they have been telling us parts of New Mexico are definitely going to have the white stuff again. Bundle up and let me know how you guys make out for accumulation.
Ethan,
Thanks for checking it out. I know what you mean, I was especially enthralled with that first clip and watched it again and again.

It would have been so cool to see it scarf down a kid head first. Bet the screaming would have amped up a bit at that.

Kinda looks like he’s breach birthing out a human too.

Patrick,
Man, I almost thought he/she was gonna accidentally chomp that first kid in the library! That puppeteer has some skills to stop short like that, especially considering the long reach of the torso and neck.
LOL! I also saw some people on You Tube commenting on what appears to be stuck in the Rex’s “business end!”
