Inspiration

June 23rd, 2011 by John Wolfe

While I usually try to keep the majority of my posts specifically related to Halloween or the paranormal, every once in a great while I like bringing something a little different to a blog entry. In fact, some of you may remember when SoS first started, I would often include blog posts discussing spirituality (from a metaphysical standpoint, not from a religious or dogmatic one) right alongside my Halloween and paranormal entries.

While the metaphysical posts were all moved to my other website a few years ago, I feel there’s still a spiritual thread that runs through everything I do at SoS. After all, I believe following your passion, having fun and finding ways to be of service to others through that passionate, joyful pursuit is a huge part of what spirituality and life are all about.

And in that vein, considering how so tremendously supportive and awesome all of you have been regarding my recent health challenges, I wanted to thank you and share with you just how inspiring your kind and generous messages have been for me.

While I’ve always made it my intention to make a true connection with my visitors and hopefully inspire and uplift each person (even if just a little bit) in the process, I never realized I’d be the one receiving those same benefits 1,000 times over from all of you. I sincerely thank each of you from the bottom of my heart.

Speaking of inspiration, the following vid has been a favorite on my You Tube channel for a year or so now, but it’s recently taken on an even deeper meaning for me. I hope you find something beneficial in the message as well:

Really nice entry John. Glad to see you’re feeling a bit better. What is your other website for metaphysical stuff? I’m on a journey and would love to see it. Peace and love,
    Edward.

I have to completely agree with you, John. I too firmly believe in following your passion. It’s why I don’t mock Christmas Light enthusiasts, unlike some haunters. Their doing what they love, just like us haunters. I also like your positive attitude toward all your visitors at SoS. I tend to frequent YouTube, and with all the brainless, insensitive comments left by mean-spirited trolls, we can easily forget that there are actually nice, kind people online, too. I’d certainly put you in the latter category, John. Anyway, sorry for the rambling, great post!

    Edward,

Thank you. My other site is called Wind of the Soul. I haven’t added any content in quite a while, but there’s over one hundred blog entries and several hours of podcasts on the site. I wish you all the best on your personal journey.

    Damian,

You’re very wise. I wish I had half the maturity and the progressive ways of thinking you possess when I was your age. I made a ton of mistakes during my youth, but hopefully they all served as good lessons to make me better now than I was then. Thank you for your kind comment. And no worries about what you said — it was a great contribution. I never think of any comments as ramblings.

Great post. Nothing like a good Rocky speech to give you a swift kick in the ass about life, haha. Seriously, though, I salute you in your battle with health and thank you for keeping positive. I’ve had a few injuries while weight lifting lately and it’s been causing my performance to suffer and I try to keep positive and look towards the future, and your posts are inspirational to me as well.

I hope you are doing better today John. I like this clip, but all I can think is “Save the cheerleader, save the world!” :) I sent you a message on Youtube if you happen to visit it anytime soon. Talk to you soon!

    Doug,

Thanks. Glad to hear the Italian Stallion helps you out, too. :) I used to be pretty serious about weight training and bodybuilding, but with this current stuff I’m dealing with all of that’s had to be put on hold. So, please do a few extra sets of deadlifts for me while you’re at it. Hope you’re injuries heal up soon.

    Ethan Black,

Thanks, my friend. This gastroparesis is funny as you can have somewhat good days and then have really rough ones. Today’s been quite a bit tougher, but I thank you so much for the well wishes. I look forward to your YT message and will check it out probably tomorrow.

I really admire your ability to stay positive with all that you are going through-of course it cannot be easy, but it is so important to do in trying times. I always find your posts inspirational because you have such obvious passion for what you do. Every time I read your blog it nudges me to work on creating something, whatever that may be, and to take joy in the act of creation. I read that you were meditating, I hope this is working for you…I find it very calming when I actually get around to doing it.

I can relate to your discomfort. I have IBS and it causes crippling pain if I do not stay on my medication. It gets in the way of every aspect of my life. It really bites. I don’t have the loss of body weight though nor have I had to have surgery as my Doctor has no idea what causes my problem.

  9. John Wolfe Says:

I’m sorry to hear about that, but I’m really glad it’s able to be taken care of through medication. You’ve always been an inspiring artist to me, now I find you even more inspirational to do everything you do in your life and not let IBS get in the way!

    Herstrangekind,

So great to hear from you. Harnessing the power of my mind is where I find relief and that’s also where I know I’ll be able to fully beat this. I find this fight is being played out more in the mind than anywhere else. Meditation is such a huge part of winning, as is toughening myself up more psychologically than I’ve done before. Thank you so much for your kind comment. I’m glad the work I do helps to nudge you in creative, joyful ways. Just knowing that inspires me even more. :)

Hey John, If you get time I have tried to start my own blog. http://monsrtermaker.blogspot.com/2011/06/bride-part-one.html
I hope you are doing well.

  12. John Wolfe Says:

Thanks, Ethan. I look forward to checking it out. I wish you the best with your blog!

  13. Camile Says:

Hi John, I was thinking about something you wrote a month or so back about how to some degree your emotions can really impact your physical well being. You also mentioned that you can key yourself up very easily. I was thinking how wildly different my perception of you is and wonder

  14. Camile Says:

..ack, I hit enter too soon, sorry!…so I was pondering all this and thinking about what I could do to reflect back to you how calm you are, really. I don’t yet know how to explain it well, I’m kind of still chewing on it mentally but I did think of an example that might help illustrate it…

Your voice… you get complimented on it all the time… it is one of the most pleasant and calming sounds I know. When I’m frustrated working on a project, having your live feed or videos playing and hearing your voice just brings my blood pressure right down. I wish you could hear and sense yourself through my eyes and ears. You have it all within yourself to do and be exactly what you want most and what’s even better is you understand how important it is to give that back to others as you do here all the time. Just coming here and reading all these comments from all of us here who treasure you lifts my spirits right up and they aren’t even aimed at me. lol! And it’s all here and we’re all here because you made it so. What a wonderful gift!!! So, if you’re feeling frazzled, run down, beat down or not the least bit calm, take a look east from your house towards ours and I’ll be sending/bouncing all the calm, good vibes that I feel from you right back your way. As we used to say on the playground, “I’m rubber, you’re glue- it bounces off me and sticks to you!” :)

  15. John Wolfe Says:

Thank you so much, Camile. I’ve found the mind and emotions play such a huge role in all of this. In fact, I’ve had some major breakthroughs this week and have started feeling a lot like my old self again… Thank God! There’s been a lot of prayer, meditation, fight/willpower, some therapy and meds involved and I’m feeling great again. During the course of this, while I’ve been broken open pretty wide, a project came to me that’s more about giving than any other I’ve worked on at SoS. It’s definitely a life changer for me and is inspiring me on a daily basis, I just hope it’s well received by visitors. I feel like I have a whole new purpose again. I’ll share more about it in an upcoming post. Right now I’m doing a lot of leg work on getting it all ready. It’s not super fancy, but it can make a big difference in people’s lives halfway around the world.

Halloween and Season of Shadows are my passions, but my recent struggles made me realize I want to find more ways for SoS to be a conduit for bringing love, joy and life changing things to others. That may sound like a tall order through Halloween, but it’s my goal.

Your kindness is amazing, my friend and I, too, feel the love each time I log in and find the wonderfully generous words shared by each one of you! I care about you guys all so much. You’ve lifted me up during these times in so many ways. I’m more than happy to take a little of that good old Texas rubber from you! :D
