Glad to see an update. Looks like it’s coming along nicely. Your voice seems…. different. Like a softer tone or something.

Doug,
Thanks for your kind words about Little Grim. You’re not the first person to comment on the difference in my voice. Ever since the surgery (they had to stick a breathing tube down my throat) there’s been a softer and some even say raspier sound to it.

Wow! He’s so freaking awesome!!!! I feel like someone wanting to rush the humane society after they parade a cute puppy on TV. I want him! He’s fantastic. Fingers crossed. Keep up the amazing work. I can’t get over the detail work. Just gorgeous! You might try balling up the muslin when you dye it and you’ll get a veiny look to it.

John that looks amazing! way to go with the neck. The whole thing is really coming together. Glad to see your back out in the work shop , so you must be feeling better than before. Wishing you well wishes and sending healing energies. Talk to you soon.

autumnforest,
Thanks, my friend!
And that’s a great suggestion about dyeing the muslin — sort of like a tie dye effect but using dark colors. I’m looking forward to experimenting with his cloak and wings, especially since it’s on such a small scale cause I can easily redye or just throw out the little bit of fabric if it’s not quite the look I’m going for. You’re a huge help — you introduced me to the muslin to begin with and now you’re giving me good coloring tips!
ssflipo13,
Thanks, brother, I appreciate it on all fronts — from your kindness about the prop to the healing energy for my health. I will happily take all the healing energy you want to send. They found out there’s more than just the gallbladder contributing to the digestion stuff, but I’m working through it and trying to get my life back on track.

The Frog Queen,
Thank you! I so appreciate that. Right back at ya — you’re a pretty awesome haunter yourself.
Ethan Black,
I appreciate it. Thanks! What are you thinking about creating?

John, he looks amazing!! And Autumn Forrest’s comment about seeing the cute puppy picture and wanting to rush out and get him sums up my feeling about him perfectly! He is so wonderful! Scrunching up the fabric for dying and then dying his wings in a few shades will be wonderful! You could even twist the fabric into something akin to a long rope and let it dry like that and then when it’s stretched out it’ll still retain some of that look of veining in the pleats. It’s called Fortuny pleating and I’d be happy to explain it in more detail if you’d like. It’s a fun thing to experiment with but no matter what techniques you use, I know he’s going to be brilliant!! Your work is so wonderfully inspiring!! Thank you so much for the update!!

Camile,
Thank you! I’m glad you like him! I’ve been working even more on the neck and upper ribs and hope to have an update posted soon. Those are some fantastic suggestions about coloring the fabric. Please feel free to share more of the Fortuny pleating technique, either here or in an e-mail. I’d love to have some more tricks up my sleeve when it comes to creating a textured look for his shroud and wings. While I’m happy with how my big angel came out last Halloween, I’d love to incorporate details into Little Grim that the big guy was missing.
Thanks again for your kindness and for your comment.
