Macabre Cereal Art
August 2nd, 2009 by John Wolfe
For years, I was a fan of the monster cereal trilogy (Count Chocula, Boo Berry and Franken Berry), and then along came my ten-year stint at a grocery store. One of my duties was rotating and stocking the cereal aisle, needless to say, I quickly grew sick of breakfast items. Even seeing my Halloween pals come off the truck every September and October couldn’t cheer me up. However, had I found a case of PostMort-MMMMs in our shipments, I may have had a change of heart! This great, satirically macabre take on cereal box art comes courtesy of Johhny Yanok and the I Dig Cereal Killers Blog.
I love how it’s made to appear retro and a little beat up. It almost fooled me as being legit, until I took a closer look at the dark elements. Apparently, the depraved undertaker is sprinkling arsenic on the excited zombie-like child’s bone and bat themed breakfast. Wow, it even comes with a free shrunken head inside every box!
Speaking of The Count, Boo & Franken Berry, after spending years in therapy for work related cereal aisle phobias, I’ve once again embraced their sugary, monster-y goodness. In fact, they’re now available in the Halloween Food’s section of the SOS Halloween Store.
