Moonlight Madness

January 20th, 2010 by John Wolfe

Around age three or four, whenever I would hear the term moonlight madness (as in moonlight madness sale) mentioned on TV or the radio, I always wanted to attend. I assumed the sole purpose of these events was to promote a Halloween atmosphere that was chock-a-block full of monsters roaming beneath the gaze of a full moon.

It’s very apparent, even as a toddler, I had a one track mind! No amount of explaining could convince me otherwise. It didn’t matter what was being sold or what time of year it was, I just knew I was missing out on Halloween “things” during any and all moonlight madness.

Which brings me to today’s vids. If either one of these ads had aired when I was a toddler, my parents would have really had their hands full convincing me moonlight madness was only a marketing strategy:

What a fun kid! Yeah, I could see you jumping up and down in your footie pajamas with Scooby Doo on them.

Come to think of it, I do remember wearing those types of pajamas. :)

I was the same way. I had no clue that it was realy just a marketing plot.
