Mrs. Frankenstein
September 19th, 2009 by John Wolfe
Thanks to the movie “Young Frankenstein,” I always find myself pronouncing anything associated with the doctor’s monster as “Frahnkensteen.”
This very cool life-size, cut-out was discovered by Found in Mom’s Basement. The Frankenstein bride ad got me thinking about my years working in grocery. The one thing I truly miss from that time in my life was the opportunity to take home collectible cut-outs.
The vendors at my store never brought in a lot of Halloween display items, but I did have access to a ton of life-size, Pepsi Star Wars products, as well as Britney Spears cut-outs, which are now stored away in my rafters.

Cool! I like to get gifts for people of life-sized cardboard cutouts of celebrities and characters they were obsessed with. On my brother’s birthday, I put a John Wayne one (his ultimate obsession) holding a ton of balloons, rang his doorbell and hid while he answered it. Some places even let you use photos of people you know. One of my friends got a life-sized one of her boyfriend because he traveled a lot and she missed him.

Ah yes, the goodies from the store………I remember those well
The managers were more than eager to get rid of them Halloween night to prepare for all of the Thanksgiving stuff meshed in with Christmas items. The store I used to work out would go all out in Halloween decorations. Well, I should say the managers would find/know of the Halloween lovers and say, “here……..here’s all the decorations you’ll ever need, go crazy on the store and deck it out as you see fit.” I got that OK once while I was the floral manager and don’t you know I had spider webs all over that department, plus some dark hair spiders and cute little white ghosts hanging in all directions.
Clean up the next day sucked big time BUT it was always worth it to deck the place out. Not to mention my department was always a favorite stop by for the employee’s and the workers combined. Memories………so fond. Oh and I finally have my first pumpkins of the season…….yeeeepeeee, I love having these little guys all over my home. Now it the weather would just start to cool down, although it HAS been smelling more and more like fall in the early am. You know what I mean
Well, back to your webcam, these 80′s tunes are cracking me up!

Atrueoriginall,
You caught me… well, about the drag part anyway.
Actually, since I’m such a fan of “Young Frankenstein,” if I’m going to glam it up, I prefer to go as Terry Garr’s character and sometimes as Cloris Leachman’s. And, if I’m really feeling it, then I definitely have to “do the time warp again!” j/k
autumnforest,
Awesome, I didn’t realize you could have cut-outs made of yourself now. Come to think of it, that reminds me of that episode of “Everybody Loves Raymond,” where Robert made a cut-out of Marie in a wedding dress. And, then he presented it to Raymond as a gift — all for sheer torture!
Goldie,
I figured this post would get you reminiscing as well.
You guys weren’t able to put out a massive amount of Halloween decorations (store owned) until the day of the 31st? We always had stuff everywhere in the store throughout the month of October. Of course, a lot of it didn’t stay up because of the kids.
Hey, I picked up a tiny pumpkin a couple days back as well! I’ll be carving it in a little while.

Hey, perhaps you would like to sit it out on your workshop tonight so we can all see it??? Those tiny pumpkins are usually the first things I can get my hands on to start decorating the inside of my home, since I can’t do the outside at all. Today I went to Michael’s to see their incredible fall/Halloween deco stuff and I had to just stand in my place and take in the smell. The clove, the pumpkins, the apples and even the fake fall leaves…….of which I bought 2 bags of those to lay all through out my pad. I could easily deck out your work bench in just the right areas to give it that same fall taste

Goldie,
Sorry, I didn’t see your comment until this morning. Thanks for the idea. I may do that, but I was really thinking about placing some plastic jack-o-lanterns out there, so I can light them up with bulbs. I have a couple in mind, but I have to see if I can locate two mini-bulbs.
You’re getting my mouth watering! I haven’t taken time to swing by Michaels and take in the sights (and smells) yet. Thanks for the offer on the workbench and fake leaves! Heck, I’m not opposed to bringing the real things inside. I’ve already had plenty of insect companions this summer, what’s a few more? LOL.

I love your bride…she’s awesome!!!
Are you planning on keeping or selling her?
I’d buy her!

I don’t actually own her. This photo was featured on another blog and I was just talking about it. Hope you had a great Halloween!
