In metaphysical circles it's pretty common for people to throw around the word dark and assume it's evil. While my response is stemming from a metaphysical/supernatural standpoint as opposed to cosmological, I too do not view so called dark energy as being evil. There's a confusion with the word "dark." As astronomers use it, the word means "invisible." Dark matter and dark energy are things that cannot be seen with a telescope. How do they know it's there? They can see that it's reacting with other visible matter around it. For example, most galaxies would be torn apart if not for dark matter keeping them together. I've written a book on this topic.
