Skeleton Driving on Halloween

February 14th, 2010 by John Wolfe

Many people place skeletons in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle as part of their Halloween yard display, but YT user, cschaible took that concept to a whole new level. He created an awesome effect, giving the appearance a skeleton was actually driving his car.

The footage shows how he did it as well as a few reactions from trick-or-treaters.

On another note — I made a few changes yesterday to the menu and sidebar of the site to trim things up a little. The “Halloween and Ghostly Links” section (that used to appear in the sidebar of every page) is being incorporated into the link/banner page of the site.

There were several more great Halloween and paranormal sites I’ve been wanting to add to the sidebar, however, it would have caused that section to grow too long. So, I’ve decided to start placing all external links to other haunters and paranormal enthusiasts in the main link page. I haven’t added all the links yet, including the new ones, but just wanted to let you know I’m working on it.

I also removed the Amazon powered “Store” from the site to make way for a new project I’m developing. And, the About link was relocated to the menu at the bottom of each page.

Okay, that might be an all-time fav! Holy heck! The kids screaming was too great. Wow! I love when someone embraces the season and has a sense of humor. That was a wickedly good one!

I thought this one totally rocked, too! I would love to do something similar as a means for promoting Season of Shadows. I could place a bunch of those magnetic door signs all over my truck with seasonofshadows.com on them and drive through town with a skeleton glowing in the driver’s seat.

I don’t have a right hand driver like the guy in the video, though. However, I was thinking I could dress all in black, including a black ski mask; dim the dashboard lights; slide my seat all the way back and place the skeleton on my lap with his hands tied to the upper part of the wheel. I’d have to steer using the lower portion of the wheel, but the effect would probably look a little similar.

KICK ASS!!! Now what a fantastic idea. I think that’s got to be one of the best effects for Halloween decor: glowing objects via the black lights! Just look at how pronounced the skeleton was in the “drivers” seat. That’s one of the coolest things I’ve seen and boy oh boy how something like that would get HUGE reactions where I live.

I also feel that the idea you have for the truck would work nicely as well. My only concern is that you could still drive safely enough, get to your pedals and see from your mirrors with great ease so you NEVER EVER put yourself in harms way. Least of all behind the wheel but given your height, you could pull something like this off. Now if only there was a way to make those magnetic door signs a glow in the dark as well with just your website lite up and everything else in black.

My dear friend, you are indeed in the midst of creating some spectacular projects for the website and for Halloween 2010. I do adore how your mind thinks John and on more levels than one ;-) Pssst, I like the changes you’ve made to your pages sweetie. It looks even cleaner and more organized than it did before. Changes for the better, that’s for sure!

yeah, that was great! you could probably apply the same technique to a lot of different situations…lots to think about here!

    Goldie,

If I do try something like this while having the skeleton on my lap, I’ll definitely be careful. I’d actually be far more concerned for the safety of others than I would be for myself. The guy who made the video said he didn’t have a cop bother him all night (in one of his YT comments), but if they saw me with a skeleton sitting on my lap, I’d probably definitely get pulled over… LOL!

Lots of fun projects occurring simultaneously, that’s for sure. I keep singing “Lovin’ Every Minute of it.” :D

Glad you enjoyed this awesome vid and you liked the tidying up of the sidebar and menu. Thanks for your feedback.

    Pam,

You’re right. There are a lot of adaptations that can be made to this cool idea for those of us who don’t have our wheel on the right side. Thanks for watching and commenting!

OMG, that was so funny and clever. I can just picture the look on a cops face if the skeleton got pulled over. He would be great for the car pool lane too. Love it and the kids reactions too.

We don’t have those on our freeway systems in Albuquerque. I always forget about cities that do have lanes for car poolers. Thanks for watching and responding, Julie.
