Spirit Halloween Store

September 11th, 2008 by John Wolfe

I stopped by two of my local Spirit Halloween stores today. They’ve been kind enough to allow me to display S.O.S. fliers in both of their locations again. Last year, between both stores, they distributed over 750 copies for me. I can’t tell you how great the entire staff has been at the Cutler and Renaissance road locations in Albuquerque.

They are friendly as all get out and don’t mind Halloween nuts like me lurking around their aisles with a camera in tow. Of course, it may help that I bribe them with baked goods (store bought brownies) to let me display my ware. :) Actually, they don’t play favorites. They have several other Halloween and paranormal themed fliers floating around too.

While I was there, I picked up a new ground fogger; I’m planning on there being no wind this year (fingers crossed). That makes three foggers and counting for the yard. As I mentioned in an earlier post- this Halloween is going to see more fog, more leaves, more corn (hopefully) and more jack-o-lanterns distributed throughout my haunt. I also have family coming in to help provide some scares on the front porch, so I want to keep them concealed by fog until the last possible second.

Spirit had some cool displays featuring animated and static props, including: a witch stirring her brew, Jason, a headless vampire and several other oddities. I grabbed video footage of the animated props, in action, which I’ll be including in my next Haunter’s Reality installment.

They had great foam filled props too. I snapped some shots of a crouching witch and this demonic figure. Is it just me, or does the demon guy sort of resemble Bat Boy from those grocery store checkout stand newspapers? Once again, I can’t mention enough how kind Spirit Halloween has been to me. And there’s still one more location, on the west side of town (Coors blvd.), I’ve yet to visit. Get ready Coors location; you’ll find me lurking around your aisles very soon! :)

Update 10/9/08: The east side Albuquerque Spirit Halloween Superstores can be found at 4610 Cutler Avenue, NE (505) 830-2025 and at 1221 South Renaissance Blvd. NE (505) 344-0146.

On the west side, you can find them in the Alameda West Shopping Center at 10131 North Coors Blvd, near the Cottonwood Mall. They can be reached at (505) 897-2175. Tell them Season of Shadows sent you. :)

Cool website! One thing you should mention though is where the new spirit store will be this year! (2008)

Thanks, Turner. The Spirit Halloween Superstores, I mentioned in this post, are from this year, but I don’t have their physical Albuquerque street addresses. In my Spirit Store Revisited post I did include the west side Spirit Store’s address.
