Texas Hill Country Ghost
April 19th, 2010 by John WolfeToday’s entry features on of my favorite paranormal segments from the old series, “Unsolved Mysteries.” I’m partial to this one for a couple of reasons–one being that I lived in and traveled throughout the Texas Hill Country during the late ’80s and early ’90s. And another being that the claims appear to be coming from no-nonsense kind of guys who probably never gave ghosts or the paranormal a second thought prior to these encounters.

If you’re looking for a ton of great ghost and paranormal vids, then I highly recommend checking out missesyouneverknow’s channel. She has a lot of good stuff, including many paranormal programs I’ve never seen before.
On an another note, I’m due to post an update on the Angel of Death, but I’ve been really busy working on some other things this last week, so I may not have a video posted until next week.

John, pertaining to the sounds that “ghosts” can make, footsteps, closing of doors, moving objects around and loud crashes….I wonder how they do that. Given our thoughts on the vocal abilities of ghosts in EVP recordings, as I watched this video I wondered the same thing: “How are they creating sounds of objects moving in the home or even footsteps???” I would imagine you and I would say it has something to do with energy but, it seems it’s one thing to speak but another to make object sound. Then again that is my human brain thinking in such a way and not the energy spirit that I am. What do you think John?
That also reminds me of the sounds in my bedroom and no place else in my home, just the bedroom. Once in a while I’m startled awake to the sound of my sliding closet door shutting FAST and HARD. Scares me almost straight into a heart attack!!! Once I turn my flashlight on, the closet doors haven’t moved an inch. Again I wonder, how do they do that? Do you ever get really loud sounds like that in your home? Nooooo, you have happy pleasant things happen like money slowly rolling across the floor
In addition WHY do these things tend to happen at night and always while we’re sleeping? I’ve often wondered about that to. I also had the experience of something sitting at the foot of my bed while I was falling asleep. When I raised my head up to see what was going on, I could actually see a fairly large butt print on the foot of my bed. Once my eyes got huge from what I was seeing and feeling, “it” got up from my bed and it never happened again. It’s a really scary feeling.
LoL….and for the note, this was NOT my mind creating the events, this was NOT my imagination. Trust me, not when I want to sleep at night. The last thing I’m thinking of is spirit activity around me
Thank you for the tip about the yt users channel. I’m always on the lookout for excellent paranormal channels. Thank you John

This stuff is always fun unless it is happening to you. lol I have had a time or two as a kid that what I experienced could be described as a ghost. I love telling them, but I don’t know that I ever want to go through them again.

Goldie,
Thanks for your comment and great questions. I have my own theories on many of those subjects you were curious about. Now, whether or not my theories have any merit or if they’re even remotely close to knocking at the door of the truth, I can’t say for certain, but I do like to take a stab at the how’s and why’s of paranormal activity. In fact, I think I’ll write an entry in the coming days discussing my ideas on the subjects you mentioned.
I really don’t have abrupt, loud noises occurring in my home. Just as you said, the only truly strange thing that’s ever happened here is the penny being rolled across the floor at me from out of nowhere. Also, after lots of intense focus during EVP sessions where I’m trying to make contact, I do tend to have residual clairaudient experiences in the house, but those tend to fade out after I distance myself from the sessions.
When it comes to why these things happen when we’re drifting off to sleep, I believe it’s because we’re entering into altered states of consciousness as we change our brain waves “prepping” for the sleep state. This shift either allows us to tune into somethings that’s around us, which in our normal state of consciousness we wouldn’t be aware of, or else, it’s our own altered state that’s causing many of these disembodied sounds and noises to be brought about… sort of like the current, widely-accepted explanation for poltergeist activity being caused by a person rather than an entity.
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
autumnforest,
I was never interested in the the violent crime segments on Unsolved Mysteries–those scared the hell out of me, whereas the paranormal fascinated me… go figure
But I miss it too. I rented the special Unsolved Mysteries paranormal dvds a while back on Netflix. It was great catching up on those old shows! Thanks for your kind words about the Angel and about my other projects.
Ethan,
I’m sort of like that myself. There is a part of me that’s totally fascinated by the paranormal and gets a charge if something strange does happen, but then (especially when I’m trying to sleep), I’m content in having it not happen anymore! LOL!
