The Haunting Grounds
December 31st, 2009 by John WolfeTorn ligaments, encapsulated by shredded muscle tissue and sinew — just a few of my favorite visuals when it comes to groundbreaker corpses. Oh, the beauty of portraying distorted human anatomy all for Halloween fun. Speaking of which, S.K. Austin, of The Haunting Grounds, is a Halloween enthusiast after my own heart.
You’ll quickly see why when you check out his family’s 2009 Home Haunt vid:
I highly recommend swinging by The Haunting Grounds. Though the site is still new, there’s already ample amounts of photos and interesting posts to inspire the Halloween spirit. And, S.K.’s passion for the holiday is evident throughout. When you combine that with some very strong artistic talent, it’s only a matter of time before The Haunting Grounds becomes a popular online Halloween destination.
On another note, I’d like to wish everyone a happy and safe New Year’s Eve. I’d also like to thank you all for making 2009 a spectacular year here at Season of Shadows! You guys have been so kind, supportive and awesome. I’m extremely jazzed about 2010 and hope you will continue to join me for the experience.

This turned out great John! Thank you so much for your kind words in support of another great haunter I know of, S.K! He’s a very kind and gentle soul and has an extremely loving heart. I was excited to see his website up so I could get a gander of all of his photos I heard so much about on Halloween night. His corpses are one of my few favored out there and I love his vision of spookiness when it comes to decorating his home. I think it’s extremely kind and supportive of you to give the delightful shout-out to his new website in the manner that you did. As you know, I adore your writing and how your mind thinks to create so I was most anxious to see what you would write up about S.K.’s work. Now only if other Halloween enthusiasts would be so kind to do the same on their website. I’ve noticed haunters seem to be a picky bunch at times and don’t support other haunters work. LoL, we’re all one and share the same passion for Halloween….it’s ashame that even there, at times, there is division online among such a community. Thank you also for your last comment my friend. It’s been my tremendous honor in knowing you the unique way that I do. I look forward to the new year ahead, that’s for sure!

That is amazing! I so wish those people lived in my neighborhood! I love the way you see more and more of it as you move around it.
Hope your 2010 is totally surprising and amazing. I can’t wait to see what you do next Halloween. I think I might expand on the creepy doll setup by adding some mannequins as sentinels beside the window display. I have a few months to think about it (hee hee)

Goldie,
It was my pleasure to feature his site and his work. I love blogging about new Halloween Haunt sites. S.K. is super kind and has a great technique for building his props. I look forward to seeing his haunt unfold in the coming years.
autumnforest,
In a similar way, I often wonder what it would be like to have several of the online Halloween haunt enthusiasts living on the same street. Imagine what that block would look like, not to mention the amount of fun kids would have going from house to house. That would be incredible!
I like your idea about the mannequins. If you “rock” that many dolls on Halloween night, the kids will flip out!

John,
Thank you, for taking the time to recognize our work here on Season of Shadows. Your support and kind words are greatly appreciated, and I consider it an honor that you have chosen to share them here. I, also, am looking forward to seeing your work for the 2010 season.
Goldie,
Thank you, as well, for your kind words and support. I owe special thanks to Season of Shadows for affording me the pleasure of meeting you. You are too kind, Thank you dear friend.
Autumnforest,
I am glad you were able to enjoy our video. Sadly, I fear I could never live in the southwest. I am rather fond of our cold weather up here and I would miss the snow terribly. Thank you for your supportive words.
Until Next
S.K.

S.K.,
You’re very welcome. It was absolutely my pleasure. And, just in case you can spare a little of that snow, we can use it near Albuquerque. Although, I know autumnforest could use it worse in Arizona.

Seem like my kind of people. I wish I knew more yard haunters in my area. I love to see others work and I tend to be the go to guy for people who like this stuff but dont have the artistic talent for it. I dont know many who are skilled at it in any way.

To the best of my knowledge, there really aren’t any yard haunters (who create their own props) in my area either. There are a few in the neighborhood who decorate with some store-bought items, but not usually any handcrafted creations. Of course, I’m always happy to see store-bought stuff in people’s yards, too.
