Tidy Monster

May 26th, 2010 by John Wolfe

A creepy, animated visual of what appears to be a descent into mania.

So, does the room represent the unseen character’s mind, or do you think it’s something else?

That was really neat. I was surprised how much I liked that. It reminded me of the perspective of a person who lives in a haunted house and the day to day weird stuff that sort of blends together over time. Sort of like those snapshots done in time lapse…

YOUR VOICE should have been used BIG TIME for this video!!! I would imagine this video was rather close to your heart, or mind I should say in that you too have to “tidy up” often through out the day because of the OCD. I personally took the “meaning” of this in two ways: the human mind and the games it can play and in astral projection into multiple dimensions where the world “there” is not as it seems here on Earth. Although I can honestly say that the few OBEs I have were NOTHING like that. However, I have had some bad days where it felt like the walls were caving in and everything was turning black like in this video.

Really specific and peculiar video Sweetie. I’m curious, what was your comprehension of the video? “Mind or something else?”

    autumnforest,

Thanks. That’s an interesting take on it. I didn’t even think about how it could be seen as dealing with all the complexities of living in a haunted location. Very cool!

    Goldie,

You bring up another interesting take when seeing it almost as an astral projection. That’s a great interpretation! I didn’t think of it in that way either. The so-called astral plane does appear to contain a duplicate, to a certain extent, of the physical earth plane, but it also seems to have bizarre variations in the way this physical world presents itself when viewing it from an out-of-body state. Just as the room changed frequently in the vid, so could a room change in subtle ways on the astral.

For me, the room pretty much represented the character’s brain and the struggles he was enduring inside his own mind–becoming more and more fragmented. In an almost seizure-like fashion, he struggled to keep it altogether… I can absolutely understand that.

I viewed this as the mind, of course, but more as a struggle of the man with an alternate, very real, personality within him–two conscious beings battling for dominance. The man was ultimately weak and so, the stronger, more malevolent personality took control and that personality has no need for a tidy environment! (guess that’s pretty much the same as your interpretation!) anyway, very cool and very interesting film (where DO you find this stuff?) thanks for an always entertaining and fascinating blog…

Thanks, Pam, for sharing your feelings on it. It sounds like we do see it in a similar way, but you did a much better job of expressing it than I did! :D When it comes to finding these vids, I’m uncovering every creepy rock I can on You Tube.
