Transworld Halloween Show
March 16th, 2010 by John WolfeThe annual Transworld Halloween and Attractions Show is just around the corner (March 25-28, 2010), and since I won’t be attending, I thought I’d live vicariously through the vids in today’s entry. Considering how excited I get walking into Spirit Halloween, I’d probably act like a slobbering lunatic at a Halloween show the scope of Transworld. And on that attractive note, do I hear anyone volunteering to attend with me?
One day, I vow to make it to St. Louis and take in this awesome collection of haunt paraphernalia. In the meantime…
This first installment is pretty much a promo for Transworld, but it does give you a little back-story on the show via interviews with several exhibitors:

Up next is the show from a visitor’s perspective. This entire vid is great, but my favorite part is the last segment, beginning at the four-minute mark–that’s where “ScareFactory’s” stuff starts; keep an eye out for The Angel of Death:

I’ll go with you….count me in big time!!! Actually I can think of a few people who would love to join you on such a trip but I would, first and foremost, love to be the first consideration for such a journey
This all reminds me alot of the video I saw the other day of a Halloween convention of types which was just filled with hundreds of booths dedicated to anything Halloween and spooky. As much as I ADORE the Harvest Festivals when it’s in town, nothing could come close to an immense Halloween show! One of these days John…..we’ll be seeing YOU at such a Halloween show sharing your props and how to make them

that was great! really gets me in the mood to start working on Halloween props for this year!

Oh John! That to me is the top of my bucket list now! I can’t imagine what I’d do standing there staring at these animatronics moving around–so huge and dark and scary! I get shivers just watching the film! Wouldn’t you love to invent one that becomes mass produced for haunted attractions? The creativity is amazing. I even loved the not quite so scary but atmospheric steaming pipes! Cool! The ultimate would be if they allowed you into the place when the convention wasn’t running, like at nighttime and have the stuff barely lit and running. Wow! I used to say I dreamed of partying with buddies at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, but this would be the ultimate.

P.S. Those props are mind blowing!!! That last video just stunned me. I had no idea that props are moving so fluid now, almost like they are the real thing. See the angel of death at the end only has me wanting yours all the more

Goldie,
There are many great Halloween conventions that I’d so love to visit! I’ve had my sights set on Transworld for a couple of years now, however, because it seems to have an even greater capability for handling the oversized props and animatronics. The massive, animated stuff (especially ScareFactory’s booth) gets my blood pumping. Thanks again for the video link you sent a couple of days ago.
I don’t know if I’ll be an exhibitor at Transworld (it’s possible), but I guarantee you guys will see me there hobnobbing, networking, shooting video and having a blast one of these years.
You’re so right about the fluidity of the animated props now. The high end stuff is truly seamless in movement–very Hollywood movie-like!
Pam,
Awesome, glad to hear it! Thanks for checking out the post.
autumnforest,
I hope you’re writing that list in pencil, just in case you need to erase and rearrange a few things.
I was the same way watching the footage: goosebumps, exhilaration and the shivers! That would be totally awesome to have a prop mass produced! Did you like the steampunk-looking chair with the mad scientist-type guy driving around?
It would be incredible to have the run of the place–sort of like what kids dream about when having a theme park all to themselves. I know I could spend hours in ScareFactory’s portion of the convention.

I will make a pact with you on getting to that place! One way or the other I will be visiting that show at some point in the future. thanks for inspiring me. My jaw dropped as I watched those huge props in the second clip.

Good for you–set that goal and see it come true! You’ll have to keep me updated on when you plan to attend–if it happens to coincide with my eventual visit, then maybe we can meet up at the convention.
