Trick-or-Tweet Halloween Updates
February 2nd, 2009 by John Wolfe
I just added a feed into the sidebar of the blog from the new Season of Shadows Twitter Channel. Twitter is a micro or miniblogging service which allows users up to 140 characters to describe what’s on their minds. The whole theme of Twitter is associated with birds, and since updates are often referred to as Tweets, I’m calling my feed Trick-or-Tweet… too cutesy a name, huh? LoL. Oh well, I liked it.
I’ll be updating my page everyday with Halloween things I’m working on, watching, listening to, thinking about or just whatever strikes my fancy and encourages the Halloween spirit. You’ll always find those updates streaming into the sidebar of the Season of Shadows Blog. If you have a Twitter account and would like to become friends (or followers as they call them), please check out my page.

Interesting. You’re the second website in this genre that I’ve seen adding Twitter, and I discovered both today.
My partner (non-haunter) just started using Twitter, and he’d mentioned the idea of adding it to my site. I wasn’t convinced that the Halloween/Haunter community would utilize it (I’m also reluctant to add another procrastination enabler to my collection!). At least, not yet. I thought it might be too new for the community to embrace it or find usefulness in it.
If you feel like sharing, I’d love to hear an update on your findings when you get going (for example, how many connections you make with like-minded ghoulies; effect it has on traffic to your site; that sort of thing).

Oh no….you are? “Listening to Disturbia by Rihanna.” Umm, have you seen that video? I just learned yesterday, I kid you not, about the meaning behind the lyrics of that song, not to mention the images. Another “disturbing” song of hers is Umbrella where most don’t know that when they are singing along to her “ella ella eh eh eh” phrase that it’s actually a chant. Really spooky you even bring that up given the huge amount of lyrical meaning information I spent all of yesterday understanding. I literally still have them on my front page on youtube, it’s that fresh………that’s just straight up spooky John!

Oh and another song with hidden true meaning is Michael Jackson’s song, “Beat-it” for when you slow down the frames and dig into the meaning behind the words, that song is actually about group male (or homosexual) masturbation. LoL, I know my research takes me all over the board, you know me, and Sunday I was dicing up songs, the images and the lyrics there of.

Ghoul Friday,
Cool, I didn’t realize any other Halloween sites were working with Twitter. Do you mind sharing who it is? I’d love to “follow them.” A fellow haunter, Johnny, of Through the Patch started a service like Twitter called “Hauntr” back in September or October. I was so busy with Halloween prep that I didn’t join. I went to check it out and it appears he’s stopped supporting it.
I started using Twitter at Wind of the Soul and have really enjoyed it, so I thought I’d incorporate it here as well. So far, through Twitter searches, I haven’t found many Halloween enthusiasts as members. However, I always enjoy getting in on the ground floor of something – not that Twitter is new, but apparently it is to the haunt community. I think it will grow on “Halloweeners” over time, especially as they start seeing more sites carrying an rss feed and as we draw closer to the season.
I’ll definitely keep you updated on my experience with the service.

Goldie,
You like the name, huh? Trick-or-Tweet. I think I’ll tell the kids they have to say it like that when asking for candy this year, all in honor of the Season of Shadows Twitter feed. I’m sure they’ll love that… ya right!
I’m not aware of what the official lyrical meaning of “Disturbia” is, but it has its own meaning for me and I like the video. That shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise, considering what you see at Season of Shadows.
My favorite parts of the song are when she seems to be doing a little self-reflection and talking to herself, asking, “Why do I feel like this? I think I’m going crazy.” Of course, I can relate big time to that.
See, I still continue to freak you out with the whole wave length thing we are sharing!
