Webcam Starting Up Again

August 10th, 2011 by John Wolfe

With all the focus on recovery work I’ve been doing this summer, I finally feel healthy enough to return to some regular webcam broadcasting again. The cam’s ready to run from the shop, however, you’ll notice some differences this year.

For now, I’ve moved “the shop” outside where it’s much cooler and the air is fresher, so the view will look a little different than past broadcasts. I’m going to play the outdoor shop thing by ear and see how it goes. Hopefully the bugs won’t be too bad around my lights.

On the health front: while I’m EXTREMELY thankful to be getting 2,400 hundred calories each day now (this is a huge accomplishment!), I usually have to consume my meals in a very slow manner. The slow eating allows for easier assimilation and seems to agree better with my stomach. Since it can take me anywhere from ninety minutes to two hours to finish a single meal, odds are that some feedings (it sounds like I’m a baby, or a zoo animal :) ) will coincide with webcam time.

Just wanted to give a heads up on my new dietary practices cause you may notice me frequently leaving the camera in order to grab a small bite of food over and over again. As for the prop, I’m still working on Little Grim, and with his small dimensions the cam is going to be zoomed in tight on his torso for the majority of my broadcasts.

As always, I promise to have a lot of Halloween music playing in the background — some Nox Arcana, raison d’etre, Midnight Syndicate, and my old favorite — Sirius-XM’s 2009 Hallowen Radio broadcast.

The first live webcam feed will start next Monday night, August 15th, at 7:30 PM (Mountain Time) and will run until 9 or 9:30 PM. I look forward to starting the camera again and hope to chat with you guys a little in the chatbox while the feed is running.

YAHOO!!! Our Prince of Halloween is back and swinging! I am thrilled to share the season with you, John. You are just so precious to all of us who love Halloween — REAL Halloween — the season of shadows and mystery, horror and tingles.

    autumnforest,

That means the world to me! Thank you, my friend. I keep taking baby steps and really BELIEVE and the process is thankfully coming together — keeping the faith. I love sharing the season with you and of course with all the other tremendous visitors as well. It feels a lot more fun to share it when you’re feeling good, too. :) Thank you again.

    Damian,

Awesome, man! Thank you so much. I’ll go check it out just as soon as I respond to comments here. Thanks for the well wishes, too. It’s GREAT to be feeling better!

    Adsila,

Super happy to hear this. I’ve thought about setting up a live stream of the TOTers this year for my site. I probably won’t, though, due to the low level of activity on our street for TOT night. Regardless, I’ll definitely be checking into the cam when it’s running. I’ll also eat some extra cals and do some extra squats for you in the process. Powerlifting is a big part of my life and I can’t imagine not being able to eat enough calories or not eat excessive amounts, haha. Glad to hear you are feeling healthy again.

    Doug,

Thanks, brother! I think webcam feeds are great for Halloween night and showing the enthusiasm and the scares of the trick-or-treaters, but it does help to have a large turnout. The cam I setup on the porch would have caught all the trick-or-treat action last year, but the black lights were too dark to show anything on camera and then my battery went kaput on my laptop.

I used to be big into weight training/bodybuilding myself. While I was no powerlifter, I weighed 260 at one point. Now I just take it easy, one day at a time, eat what my body is satisfied with, and get on my knees and express my thanksgiving I’m still alive after all that stuff I went through. When it comes to the weights — I’ll just lift for the health of it. It’s all good. But please enjoy your food and training! Thanks for the well wishes.

Woooohoooo!!! This is such great news, John!!! I’m so happy to hear it- just so very glad and pleased for you!!! YAY!!!!!!!!! ::doing happy dance!!!:: Now, I feel like our season can officially begin!! Whereas before I just kind of felt like I was lagging with Halloween, now I feel that rush of enthusiasm that I’ve been missing this year!! Go John, go John go John!!!!!

    Camile,

Thank you, my friend! I can’t make any promises what the broadcasts will be like considering they’re gonna be outdoors and all, but at least the music will be there and it hopefully will feel comfortable for everyone to know the cam’s running again, so they can check in when they want. It’s really turning into a tradition now from August to October for it to be running most nights and I certainly didn’t want to break that tradition.

Please keep that great, high energy flowing , Camile, as I know it will inspire me while I’m webcamming. :)

Congrats on your wonderful webcam session on Monday night, John!! I’m going to re-watch it today since Monday night I could only pop in and out of the room occasionally and I don’t want to have missed a minute of it! Watching it is such a treat- thank you so much for doing it!! :) !!!!!

Thank you so much, Camile, for watching! Getting back in front of the camera can always make me a little nervous at first, so it relaxes me a bit to know you enjoyed it. I so appreciate you sharing that with me. Sorry I was rained out tonight, though. I’d like to have the cam running at least 3 to 5 nights per week. Thank you again!
