Back when I was a kid visiting my grandparents' house, my grandma had this little boy doll who sat on a swing. The entire thing was made by her step-mother and was a very creative keepsake, but the hand sewn face and long stringy hair used to freak me out. Anyway, she hung it in the corner of my room, right over the top of the bed. It didn't help matters, around this same time, the neighbor kids were telling me stories about dolls coming to life! Needless to say, by about the third night of our visit, I had to have the doll removed from my room. :) I just had to share that 'cause your comment about not wanting to have a witch over your bed reminded me of that story.

If you had a cat with a "normal" temperament and disposition, then yeah it would probably not enjoy your bedroom. On the other hand, if you had a cat with a disposition of a wild animal (like one of mine), it would probably sleep like a baby, since it would be meaner than anything in the room!

While I think I've finally overcome my issue of wondering if dolls are going to get me in my sleep, and wouldn't mind hanging the witches over my bed, that spot's reserved for my dream catcher. I'll probably hang the witches in the bedroom I use as my office. That's where the majority of my store-bought Halloween collection is at.

Thanks for your message, Goldie.

Ooooooo, hanging witches on a swing...I LOVE IT!! I've never seen anything like that before and it's so adorable. I agree with you; I too would have to turn them off because that laughing would be distracting after a while but I love the idea of hanging them on a swing. A couple of sister witches would look awesome in my kitchen. I'm a huge fan of hanging things from the ceiling. I always have been starting way back in the 70's with the mobile I made of the solar system. Now I have all sorts of things hanging from atop but nothing quite as mysterious as witches on a swing. Divine, I just love it.

Yeah those cats of yours...they sure would appreciate that cat in the first video. I bet ya "you know who" would bat that cat around a few times to show it that there is ALREADY a master of the home and it's not you John ;-) That would make for a darling video though! LoL, sorry gotta say your bedroom must be one spooky place ;-) Can't say I would hang the witch in there because if it even moved while I was falling asleep, I would jump out of bed faster than a cat falling off the counter top!!! As is I've had a slew of strong strange sounds coming from my bedroom again and oddly enough, turning on a small night light seems to calm it down. I wonder why that is? I tried sleeping without the night light last night but the whispering and rattling under the bed just creeped me out so I had to turn the light on. Once I did, returned to my bed, all of the sounds and bumping went away. Hmmmm....strange indeed. If I did have a cat it's highly unlikely it would stay in my bedroom! Sweet posting dear friend.

GhoulishCop

I got to thinking I'll probably have to keep the majority of them turned off as the collection starts to grow. I could always turn them all back on during special occasions, for instance on the days when I feel like I've already lost my mind. :) Thanks for your message.

autumnforest,

I know how you feel about not having a witch in your kitchen. After my grandma took hers down, it always felt empty over the bar stools. Please let me know if you find some that cackle like the witches in the second video. I'm really partial to the type that are posed more traditionally on broomsticks rather than on the swings, though.

I'd love to hang mine in the kitchen, but my cats would have a great time climbing on top of the refrigerator or the cabinets to get to them! So, I'll have to settle on hanging them in the bedroom.

Brilliant! My father was from Norway and we always had a kitchen witch. He thought she was a special symbol. My mother thought it was heathen, but she tolerated it. She was of Celtic origins so a little bit of superstition was fine with her. I am still enamored of them and have yet to find the one I want for my home. You just reminded me that I should make an effort to find her online. It's just no the same without her. That room full of cackling crones was very disturbingly delightful. I can see where that could really get your imagination going. You could probably do something similar hanging over a kitchen island or over a sink area, a grouping. That would be really cool.

I've got ONE of those cackling witches and I can tell you it does get annoying after awhile, though my wife loves it. I can't imagine a room full of them going off all at once!
