Witch’s Rune

August 22nd, 2010 by John Wolfe

Listening to songs like the one contained in the following vid always inspires a peaceful feeling within me — one of being harmoniously connected to all living things. The beautifully haunting folk/chant sounds in “Witch’s Rune,” by S. J. Tucker, are especially affective at guiding my thoughts of connectivity to harvest and autumn’s approach.

Great timing, my friend. I am just cleaning and packing up things for my move and I was going through my Halloween stuff because I realize I need to pare down for apartment life to just the most important Halloween items. As I study each thing I own, I listened to that song. It got me so happy!

This is pretty isn’t? A friend turned me onto Celtic music back in 1997 and I was an instant admirer of the sound. My taste of music is all over the place since I like to take in rare and unique sounds of music all the time. I couldn’t really tell you a favorite, well maybe I could. I certainly know what I don’t like.

Another area where I tend to differ from most is my taste in “horror” films. I’ve never once been a fan of horror movies from the 70′s and beyond. As I am with many things, I’m rather old fashioned in my taste and all the blood and gore is not my idea of being scary. It’s like a cheap way out of making a good movie. As oppose to a classic horror film where it’s more about the mystery of what’s going on and the suspense of what’s about to take place.

Give me an old black and white horror film done a long, long time ago and you’ll find me comfortably curled up in my thick comforter on the couch cuddling myself as I watch the tv in terror :-) I still get chills when I watch “The Birds.” LoL and to this day I always watch out for those darn black birds.

Oh and I had to do it John. I just had to, couldn’t help it anymore!
I had to bust out my fall decorations….LoL. Between that and my pumpkin spice and clove candles, I’m basking in the essence and energy of everything Halloween and my favorite time of year, FALL. Ahhhhhh, much better ;-)

    autumnforest,

I’m so glad because moving can be extremely stressful, but the great thing is that this move represents many new and wonderful opportunities for you on so many levels; opportunities that wouldn’t have been able to flow into your life if the move didn’t taken place. When it comes to your new apartment, I think you should only take your spooky stuff with you and deck the place out in Halloween decor 365/24/7! ;) I wish you all the best with this change, Autumn.

    Goldie,

Oh, yeah, it’s a great song! I listened to it several times yesterday and am thinking about picking up the album, too. You and I are very similar when it comes to horror. I’ve reached a point where I won’t watch modern horror movies anymore, especially if there’s anything violent or even remotely slasher-related going on. I will watch modern paranormal thrillers, however, like Sixth Sense, The Others, etc. But overall, I tend to gravitate toward older films that primarily relied on suspense and establishing a spooky mood throughout the film to entertain.

You sure won’t be getting any complaints from me due to the fact you’re already set for Halloween inside your house! Heck, I encourage it. :D I’m still stockpiling more Halloween knickknacks for display in my Halloween room. I wish someone would come up with a completely hypoallergenic fog machine that could run safely round the clock. I’d love to pump ground hugging fog into the Halloween room day and night, too!

I can certainly see why you listen to music like this prior to meditating. This particular song has an amazing ability to help get me centered. Thanks, ssflipo13.
