Zombie Walk

July 25th, 2009 by John Wolfe

On July 3rd, the city of Seattle broke a world record for the largest turnout of zombies to ever mope, moan and shuffle their way through streets and businesses in the Fremont community. According to CleoZombie, there were 3,848 participants confirmed but over 6,000 people (both undead and otherwise) attended the rally. Apparently, the event used to be held near Halloween, but they moved the 2009 walk to the July 4th weekend.

I wish they would have venues like this in Albuquerque. I would be there in a heartbeat, snapping photos and grabbing a ton of footage. To cover a zombie walk, what better “media” outlet is there than a Halloween based website?

The included video belongs to You Tube user kimbasmeow, and features scenes from the 2008 Zombie Walk.

That made my day! I wish my town was fun enough to do that. Maybe I’ll have to make an excuse to head north to hang with fun people who don’t take themselves too seriously. Oh, I wanted to thank you for showing that video of a pepper’s ghost (I believe it was your blog). I did a lot of research and my son who’s in art/video is going to try to do one in a doll’s house with doll-sized ghosts for my halloween party. I’ll do a post on it if it works out.

Glad to hear it. :) You’re very welcome about the Pepper’s Ghost entry. I look forward to (hopefully) seeing your son’s project, especially since I’m still thinking about working with the illusion in my yard haunt next year.
