Zombie Zombie
September 6th, 2010 by John WolfeUsually I steer clear of posting anything that contains violent acts — I love spooky stuff, creepy things and suspenseful horror, but I’ve always been unwilling to promote any depictions of violence or gore in my entries. However, tonight’s post does contain a little bit of those elements, but for the most part it’s minimal and only happens between toys.
Zombie Zombie is essentially a stop motion nod to John Carpenter’s The Thing, using G.I. Joe action figures. The sets are amazing in this film and the stop motion action is very impressive, especially considering the limitations of action figure limbs.
Yo Joe! They’re coming to get you (Barbara)!

That was brilliant! I’m impressed and I loved that movie, so I think it’s totally awesome!

Uh…. that was six and a half minutes of AWESOME!
Thanks for posting this. I probably would’ve ignored it (or never found it) otherwise.

autumnforest,
Cool! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and commenting, autumn.
Dex1879,
My pleasure. Thanks for checking it out and commenting. I’m keeping my eyes open for more from the creators as it sort of sounds like they had/have a full-length film in the works based on this short.

I am always impressed with good stop-motion. That was awesome the whole way through and the music matched it perfect. Great ending, too.

I like that. It reminds me of ROBOT CHICKEN, only not funny. The animation work was good, I wonder how long it took them to make this.

that really was very well done!

Doug,
I agree — it totally kept my attention the entire time and had me curious about where the story was going next. The zombie dude’s face reminded me of what we used to do to plastic army men as kids! We always lit firecrackers next to them and melted the plastic.
Ethan,
I don’t have cable, but isn’t Robot Chicken Seth Green’s (sp?) project? I’ve heard of it, but never caught an episode. That would be a good one for me to look up on YT.
Pam,
Thanks for visiting and checking it out, Pam. I appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the short.

Wow this was really well done!! I would love to see other action figures play out scenes from other movies as well. The makers of this video are extremely talented and patient to have pulled something like that off so well that it looks like something from out of Universal Studios.
Actually, my unusual imagination is getting rather carried away with me regarding what movies and what scenes I would want played out. TeeHee, once again my dear friend, you have a strange and unworldly talent for finding the most unique videos out there on line. Awesome job.

that was awesome ! I didn`t think the voilence was that bad.

John- Yeah, Seth Green uses toys to act out comical and often controversial subject matter.

Goldie,
I totally hear you on how it looks like something from a major studio. I was totally mesmerized by the lighting and details of the snow falling, especially during the establishing shots of the “base.”
When it comes to locating vids, I try to think of the strangest combination of search phrases I can, and then I start digging through the results. Funny how it’s not hard for my mind to think in strange, bizarre ways.
Thanks for watching and for your kind words!
Ethan and ssflipo13,
Thanks, guys.
